Yuma
It's been years now since we first met, but I doubt you remember.
I was still a child, maybe a spoiled one, but I was unhappy. You didn't like that, but I doubt you remember.
We were at the lake. We might have been around eight, but I doubt you remember.
I was alone, suffering on the cold dirty ground, my knees to my chest and my head lowered. I needed someone, but I doubt you remember.
And then you came. You were running, you had a torch in your hand. You looked like you needed to get as faraway as possible. Still, you stopped by when you saw me. But I doubt you remember.
You asked why I was sad, and you smiled down at me, but I doubt you remember.
You told me your name was Edgar, but I doubt you remember.
You tried to make me happy, but I doubt you remember.
You promised me you'd never leave, but I doubt you remember.
Every day, as you insult me, as you take your anger out on me, as you try to hurt me as much as possible, I think of all the things we've been through. And I pray the gods that you'll remember.
