She was sitting all alone in the Great Hall. A tear-stained tissue was pressed to her eyes and she was shedding more tears for him. He had been taken away too soon. She hadn't even been able to tell him how she felt.
Then she felt a gentle touch on her shoulder when she turned she saw something she never expected. She saw the one she loved Fred Weasley standing there before her and a slight smile was on his face. She could barely contain her happiness she thought she would never see him again. When she stood before him her eyes were brimming with tears but this time not sadness but happiness that she would be able to see him one last time.
When she walked up towards the smiling love of her life she could barely understand.
"How did you come back? I thought you were gone forever." She said not knowing what to think.
"I was gone but I am never truly gone whenever you need me I was always be right here." He gently pressed his cold fingers to her chest right above her heart and she let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding.
"What are we going to do without you?" She said trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill over.
"You all will be all right and you will always have me in your heart Hermione all you need to do is think about me and I will be right beside you." He smiled down at her and she felt a single tear run down her cheek.
He gently brushed it away with the back of his hand. Then she said the three words she never thought she had the courage to say. "I love you." When he looked at her he smiled and stepped close and leaned down next to her right ear.
"I love you too and I always will." He gently pressed his cold lips to her cheek and she knew it was almost time for him to go.
"Fred before you go I just want to do one last thing." She gently pressed her warm lips to his icy cold ones and she couldn't help but notice that he kissed her back. They stayed like that for what seemed like ages and then they pulled apart because one of them still needed air.
He looked down at her and translucent tears were running down his pale blue cheeks.
"I don't want to leave you but I must. Just think of me from time to time and I will always be with you."
He pressed his hand to her belly knowing what was concealed there.
"Take care of her and never let her think that her father doesn't love her." He still had the power to do magic while his body laid on the stretcher just a few feet away and he waved his hand in her outstretched palm was a heart-shaped gold locket around a white teddy bear's neck.
"Give this to her when you think she is ready and when you are to but until then when you wear it remember that I will always be close to your heart."
With one last glance at her he disappeared in a ball of bluish gray smoke.
She looked at the place where her fiancé once stood and smiled. She gently removed the locket from around the stuffed animal's neck and placed it around her own. When she clasped the necklace she felt a cold chill run up her spine and she knew the man she loved would never be truly gone because he would always be in her heart.
With that she finally gained the courage to walk past his still form on that white stretcher but not before she laid a single red rose that she had been holding on his chest and kissed his forehead.
"Sleep well my love, one day we will be together again and you will finally hold your daughter in your arms." She finally felt closure after all this time. She pushed the oak doors open gently rubbing her belly as she did so and she swore she could feel a cold hand that wasn't there rubbing her belly also.
