The Dream
The sky above the Southern Air Temple was pitch dark. All the temple's inhabitants were sleeping, all except for one lonely young monk. Tears ran down Aang's face as he placed the scroll on his desk, then he climbed up onto the windowsill, opened his glider and sailed away into the dark sky.
Appa was saddled and well hidden behind a thick clump of vegetation, Aang smiled and patted him" You ready buddy?" he asked, Appa grunted and licked him, Aang laughed weakly. He leapt onto Appa's back and checked the saddle was secure and tightened the reins. Then he slid down onto Appa's neck." All set." he whispered, staring into the bison's large brown eyes.
The bison snorted, Aang smiled and sat upright on the bison's head. He took a deep breath and slapped the reins" Yip yip!" he cried, Appa bellowed and flicked his tail then soared up into the dark sky. Aang wasn't too worried about the noise, there were plenty of other bison around, no-body would guess it was Appa. He took one last glance back at his home as the bison flew off into the night.
"Hang on buddy!" Aang yelled and yanked the reins. Appa swerved as a jagged bolt of lightning struck the water. Aang was having serious thoughts about turning round and going back to the Air Temple, No, he thought he had to be strong. He couldn't turn back now, he had to try, but things didn't look good.
The bison was struggling to fly; the sky was full of dark clouds. Thunder rumbled loudly as bright flashes of lightning lit up the dark sky. Huge waves tossed below them as Aang struggled to steer the huge bison through the storm.
Appa bellowed and swerved, narrowly avoiding a bolt of lightning. Suddenly a vast wave towered over them, a massive wall of water. "Come on Appa!" Aang cried, pulling the reins. Appa groaned his feet and tail splashing in the water, as he struggled to rise over the wave. Appa groaned as he realized he had failed, Aang's face became determined, he patted his animal guide's wet fur and leapt to the saddle, he then quickly formed an air shield around them.
Appa burst through the wave as flew up towards the dark sky. Aang leapt back onto the bison's head and grabbed the reins. Thunder rumbled as a jagged bolt of yellow lightning struck the water.
Suddenly a vast wave towered above them, three times bigger than the one before, Aang stared up in horror as the monstrous wave arched over the terrified bison." AAaaaaaah!" Aang screamed as the wave crashed down. Aang and Appa were swept underwater as a powerful current pulled them deep into the ocean.
Appa resurfaced and let out a terrified bellow that was drowned out by massive roar of thunder. Another wave crashed down, and they were swept back underwater. Aang struggled to hold on as the waves swept him away from his animal guide. I'm sorry Gyatso… Aang thought as his world went black…Aang drifted away through the murky black water.
Suddenly Aang's eyes and tattoos lit up and glowed brightly with unearthly white light. He pressed his fists together and formed a dome of air around himself and Appa, seconds before they became encased in a large globe of ice…
