It was early morning in the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario was out on a walk when he saw a blue figure in the distance.
- "Who's there?" Mario shouted.
- "Is that you, Mario?" the figure shouted back. "It's me, Sonic!"
Sonic ran up to Mario in the blink of an eye.
- "Sonic?" Mario said astounded. "What are you doing in Mushroom Kingdom?"
- "I'm preparing myself for the upcoming Mario & Sonc at the Olympics! Seriously, you are pretty famous for your jumps!"
- "True, but no one here runs as fast as you do, so I'm training a little too! I'll never get as fast as you, though! You'll be a worthy oppenent!"
- "Thanks, buddy! Hey, wanna get a drink? It's on me!"
- "Sure, thanks!"
The two of them went to a nearby bar and ordered one toadshake each.
- "You've been a huge icon for several years now, haven't you Mario?" Sonic said to the plumber. "And these are some busy times for you, eh? Both the Olympics and Super Mario Galaxy!"
- "Don't forget Super SMASH Bros. Brawl!" Mario replied to the hedgehog. "Now that's gonna be epic! Can you believe Solid Snake joined us?"
- "I know, it's unbelievable! But so is the fact that we're gonna be in the Olympics together! Speaking about Brawl, who are the other newcomers?"
- "Along with Snake, we have Pit, Wario, Ike, Diddy, Meta Knight, Lucas, King Dedede and a Pokémon trainer. Why?"
- "Well, I was just curious of how many third party characters where in it... no one but Snake, eh?"
- "Not yet, that is! There are still more to come, I'm guessing!"
- "Well, it will be interesting at the Olympics! I gotta run now, see ya!" Sonic said and turned around.
- "Hold on!" Mario said. "Let's race to the castle!"
- "No offense, but you wouldn't stand a chance!"
- "Then let's make it a little more interesting! If I win, you'll go to the tryouts for Super SMASH Bros. Brawl! If you win, then we'll get some friends to join us at the Olympics! Deal?"
- "Deal!" Sonic said and shook his hand. "See ya at the castle!"
Sonic ran off and left Mario in a cloud of dust.
- "Always mind you surroundings, hedgehog!" Mario said he pulled up a Warp Star from his pocket.
He used it and flew off towards the castle. Sonic was already half way to the castle. He kept running, and saw the castle in the distance. He looked up in the sky and saw the shooting Warp Star.
- "Oh no you don't!" Sonic said to himself and ran a little faster.
The Warp Star crashed in front of the castle. As the dust cloud vanished, both Mario and Sonic stood with their right hands touching the castle.
- "Draw!" Mario said.
- "Yeah!" Sonic replied. "You know what that means, right?"
- "You'll be in Brawl and we'll make the Olympics more interesting!"
- "Yeah! This'll be interesting!" Sonic said and ran off.
- "Very interesting!"
