How it all started:
"Hey Pam, are you free for dinner tonight?"
"Yes."
"Alright then, it's a date."
As Jim got ready for his date with Pam, he couldn't figure out what he was going to wear. On a normal day, he wouldn't think twice about it. However, this was no ordinary day. This was his first date with her, which he had been dreaming of for years. The day was finally here, and he had no clue what to wear. He was getting ready for an eternity, or so it seemed to him. He would walk past the mirror and just stand there, looking at the reflection that stared back at him. It may have seemed odd to any person looking on, and would have thought that he was very vein for a straight, young man, and that he shouldn't be so concerned about his appearance for a date with a woman whom sees him everyday at work. He finally came to the conclusion that he was done getting ready, and started to get his things together to pick up Pam. Am I too early? Should I wait to pick her up? Should I call first? His emotions and thoughts ran wild until he arrived at Pam's house. He walked to the door and rang the bell, awaiting her response. Pam was already ready. She was sitting on the couch waiting for the clock to strike 8 o'clock. She heard the doorbell and sprang off of the couch. She took a quick look in the mirror on her way out, fixed her lipstick, and then answered the door. She too was anxious for their first date. "Wow Beesly, you clean up good! You look great," Jim said to Pam. "Thank you," she replied, "you don't look so bad yourself." Jim offered his arm to Pam, "Well, shall we go?" Pam took his arm and smiled as they walked out to Jim's car. As they pulled up to the Chinese restaurant, there was an awkward silence in the air. They both questioned how the date would go in their heads. Running through every possible situation and what the outcome would be. Will there be a second date? Will we have enough the talk about? Is this a mistake? As Jim opened Pam's door and smiled at her, she soon realized that she already knew how the date would go. As Jim looked back at Pam, he confirmed the same thought in his mind. After years of working together, they grew a strong relationship that most people don't already have on a first date. There was no question how the date was going to go, they were meant to be together. As they sat across from each other at the dinner table, Jim gazed at Pam and thought about how beautiful she was. Her curls perfectly framed her face. He couldn't help but become distracted by the expression on her face as she read the menu. Pam sat quietly deciding what she was going to eat when she realized that Jim was looking at her. "What?" She asked Jim with a smile across her face. "Oh, nothing," he replied. "Just wondering how I became the luckiest man in the world." The rest of the date was history. The dinner was lovely and the food was delicious. They laughed about their co-workers, talked about Pam's future with painting and what she wanted to do to in order pursue her dreams. They chatted about Jim's parents and how they were in the process of selling their house. The conversations, and also the wine, flowed until the dinner was over. As they left the restaurant, they held hands as they walked back to the car. "So, where are we going now?" Jim asked Pam. She smiled and looked down at their hands that where intertwined together. "Well, seeing as you already have to take me home, want to come over?" Pam responded nervously. "I didn't know that was first date appropriate Pam," Jim joked. They then shared a laugh together, which broke any awkward tension that was being felt. Soon after, they pulled up to Pam's apartment. As they walked inside, they both thought to themselves, "this is the best first date ever."
