Kakashi
Rating: PG
Summary: Iruka realizes that he has in fact
fallen for Kakashi.
This is just a drabble for the kakairu comm on LJ for kakashi's birthday. i know it is 2 days early but thats better than being late.
Happy Birthday Kakashi
It was early morning when Iruka's alarm had gone off. Groaning he tried to get out of bed but pale arms quickly wrapped around him trapping him in the bed.
He sighed, "Kakashi you know I
have to get to get ready for work."
"Uh-uh. Cuddle,"
murmured Kakashi snuggling in closer to his chunnin.
Iruka desperately wanted to stay in bed and cuddle but he wasn't one to run late or skip out on his duties. Slowly he started disentangling the limbs from around him.
"Hmrph...fine," whined
Kakashi as he rolled over.
"Don't be like that. I'll be back
for lunch," said Iruka rubbing his back.
He got up and started getting ready for a long day. Fully dressed with coffee in hand and bag slung over his shoulder he was ready to go. One thing left and that was a good bye kiss.
"Kakashi roll
over."
"No"
"Fine. No kiss for you,"
teased Iruka.
"Ok"
With their lips locked, Kakashi snaked his arms around Iruka again trying to pull him back into bed.
"Kakashi I can't. I'm sorry. If I don't leave
now I'll be late."
"Fine. Have a good day...I love
you."
"I will. I love you
too...wait...what?!"
"Umm..."
"I gotta go
we'll talk later."
'Did I just say 'I love you too'? Do I? Why did I say that? Does he really love me already? We haven't been together long, only a few months. I really wanted to take this slow. I don't think I could take a repeat of what happened last time (Mizuki). ugh don't think about that,' thought Iruka.
The rest of the day, he was completely distracted by these reoccurring thoughts. He did go home for lunch only to find that Kakashi wasn't there. God he hoped that this morning he didn't get scared off or anything else. It already felt awkward enough.
People kept shooting him weird looks all through his shift at the mission desk. It wasn't like Iruka to not focus on the work at hand or to not scold the slacker jounin. To Iruka though, the end of his shift couldn't come quickly enough. He had it completely figured out and knew why he responded with the 'i love you too.' Now all he had to do was to talk with Kakashi so they could get things sorted out.
Arriving home all his previous thoughts and explanations were lost. The table was set, dinner was ready, and Kakashi was in his home looking very pleased with himself. The dinner was fantastic, every romantics dream. Well, except for one of the candles falling over and setting the table on fire, but that made just made it more eventful.
They were cuddling on the couch when it clicked. Iruka really knew why he responded the way he did this morning. He was so stupid for not noticing earlier.
"Kakashi?"
"What is it
love?"
"Umm...about this morning-"
"It's ok
we don't have to talk about it. I just really needed to say it. I'm
sorry that you weren't ready for it."
"No that's not it.
Its well, it was surprising but what scared me more was my response,"
Kakashi started to look increasingly sad and nervous, "but I
thought about it all day today and..."
"I
really have fallen in love with you."
Kakashi started
grinning like a little schoolboy and hugged Iruka closer. "I'm
glad," he whispered.
Iruka snuggled in closer extremely happy
and content in Kakashi's embrace revealing in love that he shared and
was able to have once again.
