Prologue

On the planet, Illium a lone Krogan sits on his balcony staring into the sunset. In just a year he went from a warrior with a blood stained path to a loving husband. He couldn't believe it had been almost a year already. He sighed heavily and sipped from the drink in his hand. His head turned slightly at the sound of someone approaching him.

A second Krogan walked up behind him rubbing his back softly he was smaller then the first krogan and visibly less muscular but chunkier. "Something wrong Razel?" he asked looking into the alien's crystal blue eyes. "I'm just thinking Ureg…it's been a year since I met you and here we are married and living the good life. I…I just never saw my life this way. I always thought I would be scraping by waiting to take a well-placed blaster to the face and dying in a pool of my own blood."

Ureg put his hand on Razel's face and stopped him from talking. "Don't speak like that. Everything we have done since we met has brought us here, and I don't regret one day of it…well except for when you shot me." He said chuckling. Razel rolled his eyes. "I said sorry Ureg I even stayed by your bed side for days after I did it." He hugged the smaller male and sighed. "I would never hurt you on purpose." Ureg kissed his husbands chin and smiled his golden eyes shimmering in the sunlight.

"I know you would never hurt me my love." He took Razel's hand and led him inside off the balcony. "Come lets enjoy our anniversary…" he pulled the larger male into a kiss and held him close. Ureg moaned as Razel picked him up and pinned him against the wall breaking the kiss. "Urdnot Razel…I love you there is no other for me in the galaxy. I will follow you to the life after and beyond."

Razel chuckled and pressed their lips together in a soft kiss breaking it after a few seconds. "Urdnot Ureg your body is my temple and I will praise you every night. Every night until the entire galaxy knows my name. I love you and nothing will change that." He nuzzled the krogan in his arms his arms slowly undressing him.

Hours would pass as they made love until the midnight moon was shining onto there bed. Ureg lay asleep in Razel's arms holding him tight as the other watched him. "Ureg…I owe you so much. How I was obtained you as a lover…after everything I put you through…"

One year earlier

A black cruiser pulled into the citadel docking haphazardly as the crew disembarked before they were fully ready. A large Krogan with blue eyes was at the front a Red krogan in front of him.

"Alright men listen up now here is what's going down. One of you is going to be assigned as a bodyguard to a Krogan stationed on this planet. He has requested the best and you were all chosen as candidates." One of the other Krogan laughed. "Bodyguards? Were guns for hire not some weakling's entourage " his outburst earned him a punch in the face. "Shut your mouth Charr you are a gun for hire and he wants to hire one of you. Were going to have a meeting and he will pick one of you. Whom ever he chooses will stay with him until he deems the job is complete... Understood? "

All 5 grunted in reply Charr put his hand on the blue eyed Krogan's shoulder. " Hey Sky eyes try to get picked alright I don't want to be some pussies meat shield." He groaned and walked off to follow the group "My name is Razel. "He said smacking the others hand off his shoulder "I know what your name is newbie I just don't think you've earned the right to have me call you by it yet."

He pushed past him and chuckled. Razel hated Charr of all the Krogan to be trained with he got the arrogant one. They all made fun of him though…because of his lineage. His father Urdnot Grunt whom had assisted in curing the genophage was a perfect Krogan specimen and being his son he had a lot to live up to.

He was expected to do more then his father ever could and so far he was living up to his potential he had killed not one but two Thresher Maws in the same amount of time it took his father to kill one. It earned him a spot on this advanced squadron but it was not how he thought it would be.

So far he felt like a mercenary job would be more interesting then this. Going from galaxy to galaxy seeing if anyone needed to hire some guns; and now this he was to protect another krogan? Perhaps a politician what other kind of krogan would not be able to defend themselves he thought as he caught up with the group in the elevator. He looked to his captain Spec and thought he might as well ask.

"Captain what kind of krogan are we defending?" Spec turned to Razel an shook his head. "To be honest I think it best you find that out on the job just know the job pays a lot of credits 50 thousand a day I believe" one of the men in the back dropped his gun. "50 thousand!? Why so much I happily be someone's whipping boy for that much money!" Spec chuckled. "Nice to see how much it will take to buy your body Jinx," the whole group laughed at the over eager krogan as he picked up his gun in embarrassment.

They reached their destination and walked inside to the lavish apartment the white carpet and walls made the room look even bigger then it already was. Blue furniture dotted the area Charr whistled as he examined the room. "Damn I wonder how much it is for a place like this" he said as he looked around some more. He accidently knocked into a vase and caught it before it shattered.

"About 9 million credits so try not to break anything," a voice said from down the hall. From the hallway came a Krogan with two Asari at his side. "Hello gentlemen I suppose you're the group that responded to my request?" He said as he walked over to the couch and sat down. The krogan's clothes were blue and white and you could tell at a glance he was a heavy krogan little muscle and mostly chub but what was even stranger was how big his hump was and how short he was. Razel eyed him examining him for anything strange. The finely dress krogan couldn't have been more then 7 feet tall which was unusual for a krogan Razel himself was 8.5 feet tall.

"Alright listen up. I have attracted the wrath of certain individuals whom want me dead for simply doing my job. I cannot have that so I'm going to hire one of you. This is most likely going to be a permanent job since I don't know when they are going to strike or if they fail that they will stop." He stood up and walked back over to his Asari helpers.

"This lovely lady is Verona through out your time here if you wish to…partake in any special activates with her I at least ask that you be gentle. Now then on to business." He said the captain snapped his fingers making the five krogan line up. He walked up to them and looked almost each one in the eyes. He started he seemed disappointed until he got to Razel and something caught his eyes. He leaned in closer to the krogan to get a closer look causing Razel to lean back a bit.

"You… have blue eyes" he said his own golden eyes were reflecting Razel's . He cleared his throat before speaking back to the smaller krogan. "…um...yes I do I get them from my father Urdnot Grunt." The smaller krogan took a step back and examined him. "Urdnot Grunt huh?" Razel really didn't want to get chosen now even with the money this krogan was strange and it was giving him the creeps. He walked over to the captain and sighed. "Is this all you brought?" he asked seeming unimpressed. "Yeah these are the top boys you won't fin a finer bunch of krogan."

The smaller walked past the captain and to his assistant who started whispering to him probably putting her own opinions in for him to make a choice. He turned back to the group and nodded. "Very well, the blue eyed one will be staying" Of course Razel thought.. "Good choice, Razel has never failed a mission I am sure he will not disappoint you." The captain gave Razel a nod and the krogan nodded back before watching his comrades and leader leave him alone with his new boss.

"What's your name?" The smaller krogan asked as he walked over to his new bodyguard. "Urdnot Razel." He replied as he took a stance to show off his features. "Ok Razel the ladies will get you acquainted for now and show you where you will be staying. Welcome aboard…by the way I am Weyrloc Ureg nice to meet you please make yourself at home" he said before turned to head back down the hall.

The Asari walked up to Razel and bowed. "Welcome as sir Ureg said I am Verona lets get you a room shall we." She turned and began walking down the hall. Razel shook his head. "What the hell have I gotten into?" he said before following her to his new room. She opened one of the doors and led him inside. "Here is where you will be staying Ureg's room is down the hall if you have any questions you can see either him or myself however when Ureg is with a client please refrain if possible from interfering."

Razel looked confused. "Wait, what does he do? What kinds of clients does he have any way?" He looked around his room and then back to Verona. "This place is enormous he has to do something pretty important right?" She nodded "Its true Ureg makes lots of money with his Job but it is not our place to judge if you wish to know about his occupation please speak with him yourself." She turned to leave him in his room. "Please relax dinner will be ready soon." She closed his door and left leaving the krogan alone to his thoughts.

Razel looked to the large wall window and sighed. This place was beautiful but he wasn't so sure about the job. Ureg had some secrets and Razel hated secrets especially from an employer. However he couldn't quit…this was his first personal job request if he quit he would most likely be listed. "Alright Razel…make the most of this. Make as much money as you can and get this over with."

He turned and walked back over to his door and opened it. Looking both ways down the hall he did not see the asari and decided he would get some answers. He walked down the hall to a large job with a strange symbol on the door. With out even thinking to knock he opened the door and immediately regretted his decision.

His new boss was in a large bed not to far from the door and was pleasing three Turian males. Razel felt like he was either about to pass out or throw up both which he didn't want to be in the room for. He was about to shut it when Ureg spotted him. "Oh hello Razel nice of you to drop in I actually have ahh deeper…something for you to do…If you could go with Verona to the market pick up harder ahh something ahhh you like its on me of course…"

Razel shook his head and backed out the door. "Right sure whatever market Verona got it." He shut the door fast and felt like he needed to wash his eyes. It all suddenly clicked in his head. Ureg was a krogan consort. "God fucking damn it!" He said as he stomped down the hall. This wasn't a serious job! He was the bodyguard to a slut! He was so mad right now he could tear a Thresher maw in half with his bare hands. He then froze when his worst fear came into mind.

What would the other elites and his father think if they ever found out about this. He would be a laughing stock he would drag his fathers name through the mud only a generation later. He had to get out of this he had to and without anyone knowing about it. He walked as fast as he could out of the hall coming close to crashing into Verona. The look on his face explained it all to her.

"You didn't knock did you?" She said as he walked out of the apartment motioning him to follow her. Against his better judgment, he did exactly that. They walked silently to the market before Razel finally had an outburst "I can't fucking believe this of everything I could have been assigned to do I have to protect a whore from getting axed! " He growled in frustration he was trapped if he quit he would be listed if he stayed and someone found out he would be a joke. "Calm yourself Razel. It's not the worst job you could have gotten"

She said as she walked up to the meat section putting some Thresher steaks into the bag. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Are you kidding me!? I am a warrior I am not some meat shield for a whore!"

Verona looked at him and sighed. "Would you like to quit?" As much as Razel would like to quit he couldn't it would only make things worse. "NO! I….I don't know what I'm going to do but this is bad!"

She shook her head and walked down the corridor. "Give the job a chance if your good you will make easy money. If not Ureg will die either way you will receive pay each day I say work as much as you can and when you get tired of him kill him yourself."

Now that was a shock even she didn't even care that her employer might die soon without his help. Now he didn't trust her…three weeks if nothing happened in three weeks he would leave. His insticnt's never failed him and something about this asari was rubbing him the wrong way.

"You know what Verona. Your right …I think I will stay for a bit easy money." She turned to him and smiled. "Good glad to have you along for the ride." She turned back around and frowned. It seemed this was going to be a thorn in her plans but it wouldn't make them inpossible.
