It had been seven years since he had met her, three since they started dating. She was two years older than he was but that didn't seem to matter. They were 20 and 22 now; Yasuchika knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, Haruhi Fujioka, the woman he loved.

Today was the day. Yasuchika was going to propose. He had ever little thing set. He was going to take her to some overlook where they would have a picnic. After a while a blimp would go by that said "Haruhi, will you marry me?" Then her would take out the ring, hidden in a box shaped like a rice ball (don't ask), and get down on one knee. Haruhi would say yes. They would get married and move to Kyoto, the most beautiful place on earth.

Yasuchika got in his car and drove to his loves apartment. Haruhi answered the door like she always did. Today she was even more stunning than usual. She wore a green sundress with a matching hat. Her hair was long now since she grew it out.

"I'm ready for our date!" She smiled like the happiest person alive. "You never told me where we were going today."

"Well, it's a surprise."

Haruhi got in the passenger's seat, little did she know it would be the last time she ever would ride in that car. They drove to the overlook.

Haruhi suddenly noticed the picnic basket in the backseat. "So this is the surprise, I have a felling it's not the only one."

They ate near the edge. Yasuchika would never admit it, but he was afraid something bad might happen.

When the blimp finally came and Yasuchika was ready, Haruhi was focused on something else. "Chika, watch out! That car is going to hit us."

Before he could react, Yasuchika was pushed out of the way and off the ledge. The car had missed him but hit Haruhi dead on.

Yasuchika got up from the hospital bed. It hurt, but he had to see Haruhi. When he saw her there, fighting for life, he knew his life was nothing less than over. The former Host club members were also there. Haruhi was somehow still awake.

Yasuchika approached her and took out the ring. "Haruhi, my love, will you marry me?"

"Yes!" replied Haruhi. "I love you and want to be with you forever! I…" Those were her last words, her last goodbye to the man she love.

"No! You can't die! You just can't! I love you!" Screamed Yasuchika. He ran out of the hospital and back home. He hoped roommate and cousin, Satoshi wouldn't be there. He needed to be alone. There was something he had to do and nobody could know until afterwards.

Satoshi returned home after work. He had heard about Haruhi's untimely death and wanted to see how Yasuchika was dealing with all this. He saw a note on the table and decided to read it.

Dear Satoshi,

If you are reading this it means I am with Haruhi now. And well, I had a dream this would happen and I guess I probably should not have taken her out today.

I wrote a poem for her and she will never get to read it so here it is.

This love is true,

As the sky is blue.

You were my flower,

Your love my only power.

But one day we will die,

They will see us in the sky.

The world we will love,

While gazing at it from above.

You will find my body on the floor of my room.

Sincerely,

Yasuchika Haninozuka
