No matter how hard she tried to not let them fall, tears couldn't help streaming down Lia Song's pale cheeks as she placed a hand on her grandparent's grave, an idle finger carefully tracing the well thought of words that were imprinted on there: In Loving Memory, Rory Arthur Williams, Age 82. And His Loving Wife, Amelia Williams, Age 87.

Lia couldn't believe her grandparent's, two of the people she most looked up to as well as her mum and dad, were actually gone. Gone as in she could never see them again, not even in the TARDIS. That was the first question that came out of her mouth when her parents told her what had happened. She remembered the pain in her mum's face and the tears that were threatening to fall from her dad's eyes as they told her it wasn't possible. Too many pardoxes, they said. Lia wished that day that paradoxes could simply wipe themselves out of existance because she never got to say goodbye or tell them that she loved them, and that hurt more than she could ever imagine.

Lia was not there the day the angels took Manhattan. She was at Sarah Jane's house in Ealing, babysitting Sarah Jane's daughter Sky whilst she was working on an article about exploding traffic lights which had caused destruction and chaos throughout London. Lia still didn't know what had caused it. She didn't mind though, she liked a little bit of mystery now and again.

Lia wiped a hand across her eyes, a sigh escaping her lips as her hand ceased it's movement on her grandparent's grave. This was the third time she had seen it and it never got any easier.

The first time she saw it, no matter how hard she tried to be brave, she couldn't help collapsing on the ground in front of it as the reality of the situation sunk in. She remembered her parents kneeling down beside, her mum stroking her dark hair and her dad gently putting his arm around her, trying to give her as much comfort as they possibly could whilst trying to fight their own pain. Her parents always tried to make her feel better whenever she was unhappy, especially her dad. But not even they could take the hurt that had formed into her hearts, this time.

Gently setting down the daffodils which Lia had bought with her at the foot of the grave, she tried to think of what to say. Her mum had said to talk to her grandparents as if they were stood in front of her as she said it might make her feel better. Lia usually agreed with her mother on a lot of things, especially if they were to do with her dad. Just this once, Lia thought her mum might be wrong.

Folding her legs up so her chin was resting on her knees, Lia began to speak.

"Hi, Gran. Hi, Grandad. Sorry it's been so long since I last saw you both. I wanted to come and see you but I found it a bit hard. I'm here now though, so that's all that matters.

I haven't been up to much really, which is very unusual for me. I've been staying with mum at her place for a while as she thinks dad needs a bit of time on his own to clear his head. You both know how he can be when he travels alone so I hope he comes back soon. I miss him.

I miss you two as well. I so wish I could just jump into the TARDIS and go back in time and see you again. Mum and Dad say I can't no matter how much I want to as the consequences could be dire. I wish that rule could be made to be broken.

I have a bit of news for you which I thought you might want to hear. I managed to get myself a place at Luna High School which is near where mum studies. Mum and Dad were both proud of me when I passed my entrance exam with 100% and I think you would be too. I can't wait to start there in October. It's going to be weird not travelling on the TARDIS so much, though.

Everything has changed, some for the bad but some for the good. I just wish you were both still here. I never even got to say goodbye to you and I guess that's what hurts the most.

Dad said you are always going to be here. Even though we can't see you, he said you would always live on in our minds and hearts. I think he's right. Don't tell him I said that though as I don't think he'll let me live it down."

Lia stood up as she felt a splash of rain trail down the tip of her nose. Pulling her sonic screwdriver out of her bigger on the inside jacket pocket, she pulled a lever on it which made a dark blue umbrella erupt from the top of it.

"I'd better go as it looks like it is going to pour it down. If you were here now, you would tell me to get inside before I catch a chill. I'm not going to say goodbye, though. I'll just say, see you soon. Because, I know I will see you again someday. After all, nothing is impossible, right?"

Pressing her fingers to her mouth and then placing them on the now damp grave, Lia gave it once last glance before tapping coordinates into her Vortex Manipulator which she had 'borrowed' from her mother and then she dissappeared, leaving nothing but muddy foot prints in her wake.

What Lia didn't realise was that Amy and Rory Williams would always watch over her. They had always protected her in life and they would continue to do so in death.

I'm so sorry it has been more than a year since I have last written a fanfic. I have had no ideas whatsoever and I have been so busy. Sorry about that :( Hopefully that will change now :)

Love Amy x
