First ever OldRivalShipping fanfic. It's just a one-shot of a plotbunny that has been haunting me ever so randomly. After musing it over and being utterly bored, I decided to give the idea life and here it is. Please review and tell me what you think. ^^ I hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: If I owned Pokemon, the FRLG female protagonist would be in the anime and a constant bother to Gary's annoyance and pleasure. Since she's not, I guess that means I don't own it!

"Smell ya later!"

"Smell ya later?" an incredulous voice froze Gary, "What is that supposed to mean?"

The spiky-haired brunet turned around to see his rival glaring at him surprisingly. He looked back with bewilderment. "What?"

"Why do you always leave with that phrase? Every single time we meet you say that! Is there something that I should know?" Riley tousled her hair behind her shoulder as she continued to smolder him with her eyes.

Now it was his turn to glare at her. "What are you implying?"

"Hm, I don't know?" she snapped back sarcastically, "Maybe that you have some weird thing about smelling me? Am I being sexually harassed without knowing it, Gary Oak?"

His face reddened though it was difficult to know if it was due to embarrassment or fury. Either way, he was definitely changing his salutations. "Like I would do such a thing to a pesky girl like you!"

Riley raged, "Pesky girl!" She put a hand over her Pokeball but remembered that she already totaled his whole Pokemon team a few minutes ago. Looks like she could not make him take back his words with a Pokemon battle. Her mind than quickly went back to the issue beforehand.

"Well, then, please tell me what do you mean by it? I can't think of anything fathomable other than that you are lying and actually do have a habit of sniffing me! Do I smell like roses or some scent that you can not resist? I'm serious over here, Gary Oak! I have the right to know if you are sexually harassing me! Do you just say it? That's just stupid and a lie too! Man, I hate lies. Especially a lie like that. It just annoys the Hell out of me! Now every time I hear you say that it will just irritate me more since it's a lie. I mean why would you even smell me unless you-"

The female Pokemon Trainer found herself yanked into the older boy's arms, silencing her. She felt her face get hot as she realized that his nose was nestled in her hair and breathing her aroma in. Before she could react or understand everything clearly, she was let go as her red and white hat that had been pulled off was forced back into her arms.

"There! Happy? Now it's not a lie and now I'm not just saying it so be quiet already you pesky girl!" Gary trudged on out in front of her, his face slightly flushed. He waved at her with the back of his hand and with his cocky voice, though it trembled a little, said, "Smell ya later!"

As he continued on for Victory Road, he missed her small whisper,

"I hope so."
