Title: Descisions
Author: blackbeltchic
disclaimer: I don't own the characters.
Author's Notes: This was written for "Millie" because he so wanted me to try and write a Fake Fic. This is the first fic of this kind that I've ever written. Please let me know what you think, because I can't get better without knowing what I've done wrong.
Dedication: To 'Millie,' who got me hooked on Fake, and opened my eyes to other mangas of this sort.
Setting: The end of either four or five, I don't have them right here with me...when Dee's sick, and Ryo takes care of him.
"Dee?" he said slowly, thinking over his words, "Dee….I think you're pretty hot too," he said quietly as Dee drifted off to sleep.
Slowly, he ran the washcloth under cool water before returning to Dee's side and placing it on his burning forehead. He ran his palm down to his cheek. Dee was burning up, he didn't need a thermometer to know that.
"Poor Dee," he murmured. He didn't know when he had started feeling for his partner more than he should. In the beginning, the way he had bugged him, and some of the things he had said had annoyed and disconcerted him. But when had annoyance lead to infatuation? And was that really the right word?
Was he infatuated with Dee? Is that what he had been about to say that time they had been arguing and he had clammed up? Did he love Dee?
He did care about him. But when he jumped him, he just froze. He wasn't so sure of his feelings then, when they were so close, wasn't sure he could do what Dee wanted him to. But at times, like now, he thought he just might be in love with the guy.
"You said for me to just wait there so…I…I don't want to ever feel that way again"He stroked Dee's hot cheek absently, lost in thought. Lady luck had smiled down on both of them for so long, ever since they had become partners; what if her good disposition stopped here? They had been through so many tight spots, gotten out of some pretty tough scrapes, what if Lady Luck turned a cold shoulder? What if one day their number was up? Could he live without Dee in his life? Could he live without figuring out what his feelings were, and acting upon them accordingly?
He had gone a long time without Dee in his life, but he didn't think he could go on without him. Things were simpler and so much more complex with Dee around. And with Berkeley and JJ, things were more than complicated. He knew Dee was jealous and overprotective of him whenever Berkeley decided to attack. But was he jealous of some of the advances JJ made? Or was he certain that Dee wouldn't do anything about them?
No, he decided. He had been jealous when he saw Diana Spacey and Dee kissing. And losing Dee made him heart sore at the thought.
As he found himself stroking Dee's cheek, it hit him. He did love Dee. He wasn't ready for the type of relationship Dee wanted, and there were things to deal with, like Berkeley and JJ, and even Bikky, but he couldn't see his future without Dee in it, and he didn't want to try.
He bent over and pressed his lips to Dee's burning forehead, disregarding for the moment the heat radiating from his head, and slipped beneath the blanket. If Dee needed him, he'd be there, because Dee would be there for him.
"Goodnight, Dee," he whispered, turning out the light.
