Disclaimer: Elliot and Olivia are Dick Wolf's, not mine.

This is a scene I decided to write from Monogamy. It was actually such a layered scene that I had this idea. Complete E/O oneshot. Review if you liked it.

"Elliot," you tell me. "You know, everyone in that room is on your side, but we're not mind readers. So tell me what's going on."

I open my mouth to answer, but there's nothing to say. You're waiting for a response, but all I can see are your beautiful chocolate eyes, boring into my soul. God, you're so gorgeous even when you're pissed off at me. And there's something about you that I can never put my finger on, something that makes people feel immediately at ease. It's why victims feel so comfortable talking to you, why you're such a good detective. I can't help but fall into the familiar trap and tell you what's wrong.

Biting my lip, I try to explain. "Each case gets a little more horrific than the last. I go home to my wife and what am I supposed to do? Talk about my day? Honey, today, some man cut a baby out of his wife's stomach. Pass the gravy."

You watch me carefully, not saying anything, and even though I know all your tricks to get people to talk, I fall for it anyway and rush ahead. "One of us has to be able to sleep at night." I sigh in defeat. "She thinks I'm shutting her out."

"You are," you say sharply and my heart sinks. Your voice is devoid of all sympathy, just harshness. You're angry and I don't know why. "That's exactly what you do. You keep this up, you're gonna ruin the best thing you've ever had."

The bitterness in your tone pierces a hole in my heart and I feel like I'm falling. I stare into your eyes and think, Oh, Olivia. I already have.

Hope you enjoyed it. Please review if you did!
