He looked at his sword, now dripping with blood, he dropped it immediately. What had he just done? Asking the question was pointless, the answer was right there. Toshiro had never known that he was capable of such things. He had murdered the only person he could say he loved. Had it meant nothing when he vowed to protect that same girl? He brought his blood covered hand to his face and fell to his knees. He sobbed and thought of how much of a horrid person he was. This was nothing like killing an enemy, not even close.
Her body was on the ground in a pool of blood, her eyes no longer bright, but dull in color. Hitsugaya swore over and over, he had killed her. It was his fault she wouldn't come back with him to Soul Society- if he ever got back. The clapping noise brought him back to reality, "Very good, Hitsugaya-kun. I couldn't have done it myself; I needed you to do it for me." His head whirled around, Aizen stood in front of him smiling.
Toshiro wasn't mad though, he felt dead inside. He had no idea why, but when he looked at Aizen he didn't feel the hatred that used to be there. "I-I killed her!" He cried into his hands. He didn't feel disgusted like he would have when Aizen put a hand on his shoulder. Instead he stood up and flung his arms around Aizen's waist sobbing uncontrollably into the man's chest. He did not see the man smile wickedly, but he did feel when was being guided away from his childhood friend's body. Into a room, "I am very sorry that you had to do that, Hitsugaya-kun. I had no intention of you killing Momo."
Toshiro sniffled and whipped his eyes. "I just…" He was lost for words, he remembered it clearly enough. He was in a blind rage, she had stood in his way and he swung his sword. He didn't stop there, though, he froze her. He stabbed her through the stomach and froze her from the inside, out. He had felt no guilt then, but after his bloodlust did he realize he was a murderer. He did not want to accept the truth, so instead he willingly went to Aizen, the only person who had been there at the time.
It was then he remembered all the good things Hinamori had said about Aizen, and at that moment, he believed it all. Somewhere in his mind, he knew it was stupid to just throw all the bad things you knew that person did, and blindly seek comfort in them. He did it anyway, and he had no clue how much he would regret his choice. He would be crushed again, and again by the man. Until eventually he would be killed.
However, that wouldn't be happening until the war, Aizen would use one of there beloved captains as an example that he could bring one of them down with a single blow, and Hitsugaya was the perfect person to fulfill that role. He would die in front of everyone he had held respect for, and he would do it for Aizen. Not even knowing it. For Aizen was just the same man as Hitsugaya saw him before, a traitor. That was all changed in Toshiro's eyes though. The naïve mind of a child was truly intriguing.
