He was there to comfort her when Finn told her she would never be good enough for him.

He was there when one of her fathers passed away, due to a cancer that the Doctors missed.

He was there to laugh with her when Finn and Quinn announced their engagement at the end of senior year.

He was there to tell her she was wrong when she said she'd never be good enough to star in a broadway musical.

He was there to wipe away her tears when she didn't get the role of Maria right when she came to New York.

All her life, all she wanted was a man who'd stand by her side, no matter what happened. While dating Finn, she thought he'd be that man. But his cruel and vulgur actions towards her [and many others] showed her that he'd never measure up to her high standards, no matter how tall he was.

When Sam first asked her out, she refused him. She told him that, while he was a nice guy, she wasn't ready for a boyfriend. Especially another jock.

When he asked her again, a month later, she said no-once again. She said she needed to focus on making it big on broadway.

Only a week later, when he tried again, she asked him why he's been seeking her out. His answer was simple.
"One night, I realized that you needed someone to be there for you, and I was that someone." After saying this, he walked away, leaving her confused.

The last time he asked her, she finally said yes. When she said it, he tried to hide his utter joy. He was thrilled.

They've been together ever since.

He looks back, and wonders why it took so long for him to realize how wonderful dating Rachel Berry was. She's honestly the most caring person, ever.

He thinks Finn was stupid for ever letting her go, but is so thankful he did.
If he didn't, he would have never gotten to fall in love with her.

Sam + Rachel = loveee.
