Nick woke, stretched, and felt his joins pop. He felt the warmth behind him and smiled. Then he rolled over and found a very angry Rabbit staring at him.
"What was yesterday?"
"Friday."
She punched him in the shoulder hard.
"Ouch! What's that for?"
"How old am I?"
"27 … ah … 28. Oh crap! Judy, I'm sorry!"
He tentatively touched her arm and she turned away from him.
"Judy, I forgot! I'm sorry!"
"Go to hell!"
He touched her again and she jerked away.
"Just go away damn it! I don't want to see you anymore!"
Judy felt him get out of bed, dress, and then the door shut. Later she heard his car start and drive away.
Was he going to come back? What if he doesn't!
Her eye grew watery and then the tears came. She buried her face in the pillow.
Nick knocked and entered their bedroom. His bunny looked up from the bed at the ridiculous elephant costume he wore and then giggled. He looked just like a larger version of Finnick all those years ago in the ice cream shop.
He looked at his bunny with big puppy dog eyes and held up a hand drawn sign. It said 'Dumb Fox' with a heart in the corner. Judy smiled.
"OK, you forgiven," she says patting the spot beside her.
He started to get out of the ridiculous costume.
"No Nick, just leave it on."
