Percy Weasley rubbed his eyes. He had been working since seven o'clock that morning, and couldn't wait to curl up in bed with a good book. The only thing he had to do was inspect the shipment of wands that the Russians had sent over as a gift to the Ministry in the spirit of International Cooperation, and then he could finally leave.
Sighing, he took out his wand and began casting the necessary spells checking for explosives, dark artefacts, and other dangerous substances. Percy was about to approve the case for delivery when he realised he had forgotten to cast what was perhaps the most important spell : Vitum Revelio. It revealed any form of life present and had been extremely useful in stopping the group of Death Eaters who had tried to infiltrate the Ministry by mailing themselves to the Minister. Percy shuddered at the thought of the paperwork that had created. Sighing once again, Percy focused on executing the spell properly.
It glowed red, indicating the presence of life, and Percy sunk his head into his hands. All. That. Paperwork. He gingerly began to open the shipping, wand drawn, but slammed it shut as soon as he caught a glimpse of what was inside.
Chizpurfles. Bloody Chizpurfles.
Percy huffed. This was not in his job description. He was calling the Pest Sub-Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. They could deal with this. They could do all the paperwork.
So, Percy sent a missive to the other department. Within moments, he received a reply : "Be right there." Percy waited. The second they got here, he was leaving. It was no longer his problem.
The elevator pinged, and he looked up. A pretty, bushy-haired witch stood in front of him. "Percy!" Hermione cried. "It's been too long! So, what's the problem?"
"Chizpurfles," Percy mumbled.
"Oh. That won't be hard, but it may take a while. You can go home, if you want. I can manage perfectly well on my own. I see how long you work; I'm the first here and the last to leave in my department, and you're here longer than me. You must be exhausted."
"No, that's okay," Percy said. I would be quite rude to let her do all the paperwork on her own, he mused. "I'll stay."
