famous last thoughts
he was a hero, and nobody could take that away from him.
nobody.
as he lay there, eyes wide open,
surrounded by people whispering to him,
hearing but not listening,
knowing he was going to go soon.
soon.
green eyes and black hair
grey eyes and blonde hair
but where was she?
blue eyes and black hair,
the one he'd done it all for.
the one he'd fallen in love with
and betrayed and hurt and torn apart
only to regret it all in the end.
oh, regret,
oceans of it flooded him
as bit by bit life left him
and bit by bit death overcame him
he regretted it all.
it hadn't been worth it, nope, not at all
to commit such acts;

but there was no glory in betraying those you love.
none at all.
these are my famous last thoughts,
he said to himself as his eyes closed
for the very last time.
because what needed to be said
had already been said.
what needed to be done
had already been done.
he'd made amends and it was all okay.
words were no longer necessary.
are you afraid to die? he asked himself.
it scares the hell out of me, he answered.
but the game is over.
And there is nothing left to lose.
these are my famous last thoughts.
