A/N This story kind of goes with Countdown but it can also stand on its own.

Warning: This is a deathfic.

You've heard the saying 'I don't have a choice.' That is not true. There is always a choice. Everything that happens, everything we do is the direct result of the choices we make.

A man chooses to commit a crime then he chooses to tell his friend about it.

His friend chooses to keep it a secret. Everything is good for a while but then he can stall no longer. Time has run out and he must make another choice. The man makes a choice that was supposed to change his life for the better. He chooses to stay.

Then when she is taken and no one trusts him anymore he chooses to make it right. He finds her but time is running out and he can't wait for back-up. So he makes yet another choice. He goes in alone.

He finds her on the second floor gagged and tied to a chair. His enemy stands in front of her the gun in his hand leveled at her chest.

These two men will each make a choice that will change their lives forever. Choices that are completely different but forever connected.

The FBI arrives just as the choices are made.

One man chooses to take a life. The other chooses to save one.

Everything that happens in life is caused by a choice that someone somewhere made. There is always a choice. It's not always easy but there is always a choice.

On one side of a room two men have just made life changing choices. One man chose to pull a trigger and is now being led away in handcuffs. The other man chose to stop a bullet and now lays dying on the dirty floor as paramedics struggle in a vain attempt to save his life.

On the other side of the room a man holds his wife in his arms and cries silent tears as he watches his friend slip away.

The world is full of choices.

Yes or no.

Right or wrong.

Life or death.

There is always a choice.
