Come Here Often?
A relatively short blonde woman enters the bar. She is immediately leered at and given cat-calls and whistles. She ignores them and grabs a stool. She gets the bartender's attention and holds up her ID. "Whiskey, please," she orders. He examines her ID and gives her the drink.
She sips her drink scans the room. She smirks. "Why do they always seem to think numbers can help them?" she mumbles to herself. She then notices the woman she happened to sit next to. She could be a problem. "Come here often?" she asks.
"This isn't a gay bar," the other woman answers. "And you're not who I came here for."
"Sorry," the blond woman starts, "new in town." She holds out her hand. "Name's Buffy."
"Kate," the other woman answers, taking the hand. "Careful, this is a dangerous bar," she warns. "They don't even have any mirrors anywhere."
"No windows, too," Buffy adds. "In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd say this was a bar for vampires to lure in unsuspecting victims to feed off of."
"Which would be ridiculous," Kate adds.
"Completely ridiculous," Buffy agrees. "That's the kind of thing that only belongs in a cheesy B-Movie or a comic book. Three at the table behind you," Buffy casually states.
"Four at the table behind you," Kate replies.
"Five," Buffy corrects.
"Five?" Kate turns to look. "I only see the four with their dinner."
"The 'dinner' is a decoy. When we go in to fight the others, she sneaks up behind us and feeds."
"Thanks, I would have missed that." They drink in silence. Somebody else walks in the bar. "Oh, no!"
Buffy turns to see the newcomer. "Oh, he's cute!"
"Don't be turned! Don't be turned! Don't be turned!" Kate starts chanting to herself.
"It's still daytime outside," Buffy tells her. "The cuteness is still human."
"'Cuteness?' I like that," a voice says behind her. "Hi, Kate."
"Seth," Kate greets.
Buffy turns to Seth. "Seth? Sexy name. Mine's Buffy."
"Buffy?" Seth thinks to himself. "Buffy Summers?"
"You heard of me?" Buffy asks in suspicion.
"Kate, is this place another Titty Twister?" Kate nods. "SHIT! I'm going to fucking KILL Carlos!" Seth takes a couple of deep breaths. "Well, at least we have the Slayer on our side this time."
"Slayer?" Kate asks.
"I'll explain later," Buffy dismisses. "It's going to be dark soon; we'd better get to work."
"I don't have any useful weapons," Seth admits.
"Take my spare," Buffy orders holding a stake. Seth nods. In a blur of motion, the three of them turn to attack the vampires.
"This is for my brother!" Kate shouts, staking a vampire. "This one's for my father! This one's for Richie! And Sex machine! And Frost! And John! And Sally! And Milo! Die you fuckers!"
Buffy lets Kate release her aggression and takes on the other half of the room. Seth manages a few at a time but, is far outmatched by the women. Without a way to retreat, the vampires are soon destroyed.
When the last vampire is destroyed, Kate falls to her knees and starts sobbing. Buffy rushes to her and puts her arm around the sobbing woman. "How long have you been at this?" Buffy asks.
"Almost ten years?" Seth guesses. Kate nods.
"That sounds like a story for another day," Buffy states. "Let me guess, about two years ago this got a whole lot easier all of a sudden."
Kate stops sobbing. "How did you know that?"
"That's another story for another day. For now, you're coming with me." She turns to Seth. "Thanks for the help."
He gives her back her stake. "An honor to see the Slayer in action," he smiles.
Buffy helps Kate stand. "Come on, sister!"
"Don't call me that!" Kate glares.
"Right! You mentioned your brother. Vampires?"
"He was about to be turned, I..." Kate trails off.
"Did the right thing," Buffy finishes. "Let's introduce you to your new family."
The End.
