The wind was restless this evening - the air was crisp and cool - the sent of rain was fresh, my red hair was blowing past me like a wild fire that the wind couldn't cease or spread. In my silk gown the wind crept all over my body, arousing my skin, my hairs were standing on end, every sense I had was fully erect. My nose was chilled but smelt the fresh rain that had poured, my skin would feel the wind spread across my body like hands, I could hear the wind whispering sweet nothings to me, my mouth – closed – could taste the dew that was dripping from the trees, my hazel eyes caught every movement that the trees made with the wind – gently swaying back and forth like the wind was their lover.
This forest path seemed so peaceful and serine, I'd never been to place like this before, where could this be exactly?
How did I get here as a matter of fact?
Taking a step forward I finally felt the moist earth beneath me, no shoes just my bare feet and the soft wet soil between my toes. Digging my toes in deeper I crouch down and touch the earth with my fingers, the soil was so easy to move it was like sand on a beach. A smile formed on my face, whether or not I knew where I was; I could run. Pushing the ball of my right foot down my left foot leaped forward. The wind rushed around my body, the soil moved with my feet, my hair whipped viciously every which way it could, and my night gown was forced against my form showing every muscle that was strained as I ran.
I ran as fast and hard as I could, exerting every ounce of energy that I had in me, until I came to a fork in the road. A dazzling light lit one path, and it was calling my name softly; a murmur that I could barely understand. It was a straight path so wherever it led to it was easy and simple.
While the other was curvy, there were plenty of bumps in it, many spots where I would have to leap over, yet it was still lit by a light, not dazzling but more of a beacon, this path called my name more loudly and I knew the voice. It was so familiar but who was it?
"Alison, Alison, come on Alison"
I took one step forward toward this path. The soil and wind were still the same and I proceeded on this path. I felt comfortable and at peace here. The wind caressed me more closely then it had earlier in the other part of this forest, instead of sweet nothings the wind only spoke my name beckoning me to flow it toward this light. The soil looked hard and rough, clumps of dried dirt littered the forest floor, yet with every step the soil was soft moving easily with my feet. Soon the wind stopped and the voice spoke my name louder and clearer than ever before.
"Alison." There was that voice again, so close yet far.
"Alison, love, come on wake up."
I opened my eyes to see Lane above me. The path led to him.
