Yeah... this has been hanging around in my mind for a while and I wanted to write it down. If you look at it upside down and backwards I suppose you could call it SoRiku but its not really. It's a lot darker than my usual oneshots, which are usually crackish.

No prizes for guessing the identity of the mysterious voice.

"Sora! Hey, where are you?" Riku called. He'd been looking for Sora for over 10 minutes, scouring the corridors of the Castle That Never Was. He was pretty worried- Sora had been acting pretty strange since they defeated Xemnas and Riku wondered where he would've gone. "Sora?" He listened carefully, but got no reply. He sighed and kept walking.

He eventually discovered Sora, standing in the Proof of Existance and staring at something at his feet. Riku stopped behind him and peered over his shoulder. On the floor was a square stone etched with a spiked wheel that glowed crimson. Riku touched Sora's shoulder lightly, causing the small brunette to jump and whirl around, summoning his Keyblade. He relaxed when he saw who it was, but still seemed edgy. "Are you okay, Sora?" Riku asked, his voice radiating concern. Sora nodded absentmindedly and turned back to the stone in front of him.

"Yeah, I was just... thinking." Sora mumbled.

"What about?" Riku found himself staring at the stone as well. It was slightly unnerving, almost like looking at a grave.

"Axel. I mean... he died for me. He was a Nobody, but he was still willing to give up his life for somebody. He... he didn't seem evil, either." Sora felt tears prick the corners of his eyes and blinked in surprise. Where had those come from?

"You don't feel guilty about it do you? There wasn't anything you could've done, was there?" Sora shook his head.

"I don't think so, he didn't seem like the kind of guy who would run away. I'm thinking about the other Nobodies. Maybe.. maybe they weren't so bad either." He looked across to the stone next to Axel's, which was inscribed with a guitar-like instrument. "This guy... I didn't even find out his name."

It's Demyx... Sora jumped and shook his head violently. Where the hell was that voice coming from? Riku looked at him worriedly.

"Are you okay?" he asked. Sora nodded.

"Yeah, it's just... I was a total ass to that guy, he didn't even wanna fight and I... I still killed him. And the others... maybe they weren't really that bad at all. Maybe I shouldn't have listened to Yen Sid so much, coz they seemed to show emotions a lot... but he did say they were faking it... oh, I don't know!" He shook his head again, as if trying to rattle his thoughts into order. "I'm just... confused. Maybe I should just get out of here." Riku nodded.

"That's probably a good idea. We've been away from home for way too long."

"Yeah." Sora turned to leave

Wait. I just want a few more minutes. To... say goodbye. Properly. And... there's something you need to see, too.

Sora walked towards the corner of the dimly-lit room, feeling as if something was pulling him towards that particular place. There was a cracked stone, red like the rest of them, nestled in that spot. It looked just like the others, but it sent shivers down his spine. Like someone had walked over his grave. No, more like he was looking at it. Something inside him writhed uncomfortably as he bent down to touch the stone. It was freezing cold under his fingers and sent another shudder through his body.

You know what it is, don't you? Sora nodded. Just, don't forget that, okay? You can go now.

He stood up and turned to Riku. "Come on, let's go home." Riku smiled warmly and held out his hand.

"Yeah, let's go."
