Yuuri was in the midst of getting to Shin Makoku. Who knew that the pond near his school would lead him to such a deep lake? He had hurt his leg back on Earth, and not being able to put his feet on any sort of ground was not exactly very favourable. Yuuri found himself struggling to stay afloat, choking from the water entering his lungs, and he started sinking...

He must have had some consciousness left, because he faintly saw a familiar figure swimming towards him. And then, he blacked out.

When Yuuri awoke, it was dark out. But there was a fire crackling beside where he lay, and a coat over him. There were trees all around him, and there was no moon in the night sky. He looked around him, hoping to see the person he knew had saved him. Conrad was there, a few feet away from him. Yuuri couldn't help but feel an inexplicable sense of relief.

"Heika. You're awake. How are you feeling?" Conrad gave the same smile that Yuuri was so used to.

"It's Yuuri, Conrad. And how long have I been out?" Yuuri replied.

Conrad looked at the fire. "A few hours, Yuuri." There was a strange tone in his voice. Yuuri looked questioningly at him. Conrad met his eyes, smiling again. "You really should be careful next time. Especially with a hurt leg."

Yuuri grinned sheepishly. "Looks like I haven't got this power under control yet. I should have brought Murata with me."

There was a few minutes of silence. "You almost drowned, Heika."

"It's Yuuri..." Yuuri said, his voice trailing off at the look on Conrad's face. Then a thought occured to the young king. "Did you have to resuscitate me?" Conrad nodded; barely. There was a tender look in the soldier's eyes. A blush crept onto Yuuri's face and he turned away.

"Let's get some sleep now." Conrad said gently. "We'll make our way back to the palace tomorrow morning." He watched as the red-faced king turned away, hiding under the coat. Sometimes, the soldier had feelings which were unbefitting to their relationship. He was Yuuri's protector and Yuuri's friend. Nothing more, and thankfully, nothing less.

Conrad lay on the ground, not feeling the least bit sleepy. He was glad he was able to save Yuuri, even if that had meant doing something that he may just think about for a while... The soldier turned away from the fire; away from the young maou. He had to sleep. Drive away those thoughts he should not have...

He heard someone breathing next to him; when he was almost asleep. Conrad turned, only to face the flushed face of his beloved king. Yuuri was breathing hard; his eyebrows creased. "Yuu-" Soft lips touched his before Conrad could finish saying Yuuri's name. The soldier froze for a few moments, then he pressed into the kiss.

Yuuri finally pulled away. Without a word, he went back to the other side of the fire and lay down. Conrad came back to his senses, bewildered about what had just happened. "Yuuri...?" Conrad could see the king's back, and a little of the red face. Yuuri turned a little, his black eye meeting Conrad's soft brown ones.

"You needed a little mouth-to-mouth too..." Yuuri mumbled, facing the trees again.

Conrad stared at the silent figure of Yuuri for a while. A blush was spreading across the soldier's face, but he forced himself to calm down. Would it not be appropriate to blush? Conrad lay down again, facing the dark sky.

Maybe he wouldn't have to feel guilty if he dreamt about Yuuri tonight.
