Enough

Ivan lifted his hand away from his stomach. It was stained in blood. He looked into the cold blue eyes of the man who shot him.

"That was for Matthew." The man said. "And for Arthur and for Francis, for Gil and for Toni. That was for all the people you've ever hurt to get ahead in life. It won't kill you. Yet. Gives us a chance to talk."

Ivan tilted his head.

"You should know," he started, "Matthew was the only one I regretted. He would have been so good at being on my side. He always did resent you."

"Shut up."

"Poor Matthew, always stuck in his big brothers shadow. Always ignored and overlooked. Alfred and his little brother. What was his name again?"

"I said Shut Up!" Alfred shouted as he slammed his foot onto the Ivan's chest. He laughed and coughed up blood.

"Killing me won't change the facts. Because the truth is, sometimes you forgot about him too. Left school without him, forgot to invite him to things, you even forgot that it was his birthday as well as yours." Tears started to run down Alfred's face as he pushed the barrel of the gun under Ivan's chin.

"I was a terrible brother. I know that. But I loved Mattie. And you killed him."

"So you've come to kill me in return. Matthew would be very proud. Would you like to know how I did it?" Alfred froze.

"No."

"Really? Are you sure? You don't want to hear how he begged me to leave you alone after he was dead? How he cried and whimpered as I dug knives into his arms over and over and"

The gunshot echoed through the room. Alfred scrambled away from the body gasping for breath as he sobbed. He sat on the other side of the room and leaned his head against the wall.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Mattie. Sorry I couldn't protect you. Sorry to everyone that I didn't stop him soon enough."

He remembered all of the people that Ivan had hurt to spite him. The people he had hurt to get him to play his games. He cried for them. Then he left the room.
