Author's Notes: This is taken from a 50 One-Sentence Themes meme I found a while back. I could only come up with twenty. XD So, here is Twenty One-Sentence Themes (originally written in remembrance of Matt and Mello on their death day, 1/26/10). I decided to post it here, for posterity.

1. Walking
Of all the poor decisions Mello has made, the worst was walking away from the only person who ever actually gave a damn about him.
2. Waltz
Mello is fascinated by the beautifully orchestrated dance of Matt's fingers flying over the keyboard.
3. Wishes
Matt closes his eyes as he flips a coin in the fountain, knowing he asks for the impossible.
5. Worry
He tries to put on a brave face; but as he sees Matt struggling to light his cigarette, there is nothing Mello can say to calm those trembling hands.
8. Whiskey & Rum
When Mello smiles at him from across the bar, Matt realizes the warmth that pools in his belly isn't due entirely to the alcohol.
9. War
"Oh, you are so on!" Mello yells, grabbing the game controller from Matt's hand as he sits next to the gamer on the sofa, eyes narrowing in concentration.
10. Weddings
As he drives past a church, Mello shrugs as he mentally checks off another item on his list when he spies the couple standing on the doorstep, laughing in a sea of bubbles and well-wishers.
11. Birthday
Mello sighs contentedly, because he's had everything he's asked for on his birthday: a snowy day, chocolate cake and ice cream with chocolate syrup, whipped cream...and Matt.
15. Breathing
It's only in the dark of night that Mello indulges in the simplest of pleasures, like listening to the sound of his best friend's breathing.
20. Bane
Matt hates Kira for reasons too numerous to mention, but foremost in his mind is how that bastard has corrupted everything...and everyone...that has ever meant anything to him.
23. Question
The redhead tries not to blush when Mello asks him to name the first thing he'd like to do after they capture Kira.
24. Quarrel
Mello shrugs off the vicious barbs that are flung his way, knowing perfectly well that Matt wields words both as a weapon...and as a shield.
25. Quitting
Matt sees red when the blond dares to utter the words "quitting" and his own name in the same sentence, because he has since relinquished any choice in the matter a long time ago.
26. Jump
For a brief moment, he closes his eyes and remembers a time when they were young, when they had fun just running and jumping and laughing, and his heart starts to ache a little.
29. Jewel
Matt is puzzled when Mello slides the goggles up and away from his eyes, the blond's expression softening as he whispers in Matt's ear that he has always preferred emeralds over diamonds.
30. Just
When the impossible finally happens and Mello is sliding over him, licking, nibbling, kissing—all coherent thought is lost to him except for oh god yes right there and just please don't stop.
32. Sorrow
Sometimes, when sleep eludes him, Matt gazes at Mello and dares to think of the future; but he has to bite his lip to keep from crying out when reality threatens to overwhelm him.
34. Serenade
Matt laughs at the priceless look on Mello's face as he sings along with the love song on the radio, his heart skipping along with the beat.
41. Nowhere
There are times when Matt has to just grab his keys and drive, drive fast with the windows rolled down to feel the wind in his hair, and the temporary illusion that he is free is enough to sustain him for a while longer.
49. Victory
He dreams of the day they can walk freely down the street, just holding hands, calling each other by names long kept secret; a day they finally claim victory over the madman with the poisoned pen, and in his sleep, he smiles.
