Frog Choir

Trevor had allowed him to try out for the Frog Choir.

Gran had sent him to learn to play an instrument once. He had never gone back after that first lesson. His teacher had returned to their Manor and told Gran about his horrible hand eye co-ordination. It was not his fault, how exactly was he supposed to know the difference between a sharp and a flat?

Neville enjoyed music but he was not particularly good at making music.

They had lined up so that Professor Flitwick could hear how they sang. Neville hoped his singing was not too bad.

He was not the only nervous person standing in line. A girl at the back of the line had already fainted and had been moved away quickly. No one wanted to get any more nervous than they already were, the older students of the Frog Choir were there already.

He had been invited to try out by one of the older Gryffindors in the Common Room as they had seen him chasing his toad around. He had told him that he had a toad and not a frog. She had laughed and said it did not matter.

The Frog Choir had never had only frogs for many years now despite being called the Frog Choir.

Neville watched as the next person was called up.

He was quite a good singer but was visibly nervous. Neville gasped as his nervousness got the better of him and his last meal managed to make its way through his mouth and onto the floor before him.

Flitwick shook his head, cleaned up the mess and sent him to the Hospital Wing with a couple of the seniors.

Neville heard his name being called up.

He swallowed heavily and began to sing.
