Sick Day
Kairi looked away from her game when she heard the front door click open, admitting a sniffling brunette bundled up from head to toe in thick, warm clothes.
"Kairi," she whined pitifully. "I'm sick."
Smiling fondly, Kairi paused her game so she could get up and help unwrap her girlfriend. The heavy coat went first, tossed towards the coat rack in hopes it would catch, but it ended up in a heap on the floor. Her gloves and hat were next, added to the pile.
"Yuffie, how did you manage this?" Kairi asked as she tried to untangle the long scarf wrapped around the brunette's neck.
"Sora did it. Said you'd kick his butt if he let me get too cold on the way home."
Kairi hummed thoughtfully. "Well, I suppose there's some truth in that. I would absolutely kick his butt."
Yuffie started to laugh but was quickly overtaken by a coughing fit which caused her whole body to shake. When it subsided, she sniffled loudly.
"Poor thing," Kairi murmured, brushing her girlfriend's hair away from her eyes. Her skin felt hot to the touch. "Lets get your boots off so you can sit down and rest. And then I'll put on your favorite movie."
With some struggle, Yuffie's snow-covered boots were removed and set aside to dry. Even though she was fully capable of walking on her own, Kairi helped her over to the couch and made her lay down before she set off to get a warm blanket to wrap around her. Kairi wasn't satisfied until all that was exposed to air was Yuffie's face.
Kairi leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. "Better?"
Yuffie happily wiggled in her warm cocoon. "Much. Thank you." She paused briefly to sneeze. She managed to get one hand free, but before she could wipe her snot on the back of her hand, Kairi handed her a tissue. "You're the best girlfriend ever," Yuffie crooned. "Love you, Kairi."
"I love you too," Kairi replied as she moved a small table within her reaching distance. The box of tissues was placed on the edge. "Now rest and I'll put on The Princess Bride for you to watch while I go make some soup."
"Yay, soup!" Yuffie cheered weakly.
