Disclaimer: No, but I do have fun playing with 'em.
A/N: Yeah, he'd probably be more clued up, but ^ see note on fun. :P Inspired by FadeIntoTheBackground having cramp.
Lisbon groaned as she stood up, hand flickering briefly to her abdomen, then she forced a smile.
"You okay, boss?" asked Van Pelt, looking up from her computer screen quickly.
She grimaced. "Yeah, just… y'know."
Grace made a sympathetic voice. "Ahh, I can lend you some painkillers if you like."
She looked as though she were going to refuse and tough it out, so Grace quickly dived into her bag and pulled out a sheet of pills.
"You'll feel better for it."
Lisbon took them. "Thanks."
Jane, who'd been watching the whole exchange with utmost interest, butted in.
"Are you okay?"
She rolled her eyes, seriously tempted to say 'Jane, so not your place', but she stuck with, "Yeah, fine."
This just drove him on. "No you're not. What's up? Are you ill? You work too hard."
"It's nothing to do with working hard, Jane," she laughed.
He raised his eyebrows. "So you say…"
Lisbon shook her head incredulously and stalked off to her office, thanking Van Pelt again for the painkillers.
Cho, Rigsby and Grace shared meaningful looks.
"Hope it's quick," Rigsby said.
Cho nodded. "She becomes such a nightmare."
"Leave her alone," Grace said defensively. "You have no idea…"
"What's going on?" Jane demanded.
"Oh, just… y'know," Grace said airily.
Jane looked confused. "… no?"
They simultaneously turned scathing looks on him.
"Are you kidding?" Rigsby asked.
"Man, you're such an idiot," Cho said.
"I thought he was married…" Van Pelt murmured.
She stood and wandered off to collect papers from the printer, Rigsby and Cho returned to resolutely working as hard as they could, glancing now and then at Lisbon's office in case she emerged.
Jane looked around as though he would find an answer, then collapsed back on his couch with his hands folded beneath his head.
Curious…
