Unwelcome Congratulations
When Yi Jung does meet his father, it's in a high-class club, where he finds his father surrounded by fawning women and more than just a little drunk.
Even if it was four years ago, Yi Jung would have joined his father in the debauchery, firmly stamping down the feel of dirtying himself to live in the moment. Four years ago, he would've ignored Ga Eul's innocent attentions, so completely wrapped in the shell of his own making that he wouldn't have seen how she could have changed him.
…That was then. This is now.
"Yi Jung!" his father chortles jovially, his cheeks pink with indulgence, "come in, come in! What brings you here?"
It takes considerable effort for him not to wrinkle his nose at sitting down with his father for any length of time. He clears his throat. "My wife just thought that you'd want to know." The implication that he didn't agree is heavy between them. "Congratulations. You'll be a grandfather."
His father suddenly looks intently at him, and Yi Jung is somewhat surprised at the sheer look of disgust marring his father's face.
(Really. Just what was he expecting?)
"Me? A grandfather? I'm too good-looking to be one!" his father protests in a chastising tone, and Yi Jung feels his teeth suddenly clench. "Yi Jung, do you really want to ruin your life with this? Children? They'll be the end of your life, you know!"
Suddenly, for the very first time, Yi Jung feels something akin to pity.
His father would never know, would never realize, just what he had was precious, that the very thing he pushes away would be his salvation, the salve to his wounds. His father would never have a home he could return to.
Worst of all, his father wouldn't know what he missed at all.
Yi Jung straightens his shoulders, and, with a sigh, turns to leave.
"Yi Jung."
He turns back, only to see his father raising a glass of amber liquid in a mock toast. "To the unfortunate passing of your life as of now," his father murmurs.
To this, Yi Jung chooses not to respond, knowing that if he does, his wife would not be happy at hearing of an ugly confrontation; he merely shakes his head and walks away.

Oh, dear. I really didn't mean to paint Yi Jung's father as I did. However, I remember being very annoyed at him when I was watching the series.
This isn't the last we've seen of Yi Jung's father in the Legacy universe, I think. I'll play with the idea of him coming up again, and see what I come up with.
