The Cat's Eye Café was effervescent with the smell of sweets, pastries and treats that simply filled with the eatery with its pleasant and sugary aroma of goodness. All around was the scent of the many treats that the establishment had to offer, and its three employees were well aware of that, especially since those three happened to be a magician, a princess and a white little rabbit-like creature.
"Oh, Sakura…" The magician's lilting and sing-song voice stirred the princess awake from her thoughts, blinking her eyes and turning her head when she saw the said wizard with both a plate of a new dessert in his hand and ever-present smile on his face.
"What is it, Fai?" The princess asked the mage with curiosity, eyeing the dessert with a growing smile on her face.
"It's crème brûlée, I thought that you would want to taste it and see if it would something to serve here."
"Oh, sounds delicious."
"Try it and see what you think of it, Sakura, I hope you like it." Fai spoke with such eagerness and calm energy, his sapphire eyes alit as he held out a fork with a helping of the dessert he made.
"Try it, Sakura, try it!" Mokona bounced up and down on the counter, the white manjuu eager with excitement and a little bit of sugar too.
Sakura blinked, looked down at the dessert, and looked up at see Fai smile, sapphire still alit with wonder as of what her answer would be.
"All right – I'd love to try it."
With that said, Fai gave her the plate and the fork that accompanied it, and Sakura let one helping into her mouth, the new taste dissolving on her tongue, a light and fluffy custard and a type of molten caramel with a pinch of cinnamon.
"She likes it! She likes it!" Mokona said with excitement as she bounced on the countertop once more.
When she had finished eating, the princess licked her lips and smiled wide. "Fai, this is delicious. You should definitely serve it here. I'm sure that everyone will love it."
Fai let out a sweet giggle, beaming in her enjoyment of the treat before replying, "I thought you might like it, Sakura. I made it with you in mind, because like the dessert, you're very sweet."
The princess felt her cheeks grow warm and rosy at that compliment. She couldn't help it, the magician was just so nice and kind to her, and she felt that she didn't deserve it.
"Y-You mean it, Fai?"
"Of course. That's what I've always seen in you, princess. Your kindness has always prevailed in your heart, and it always will."
Sakura smiled at Fai, her heart aflutter. She could feel her whole being fill with gratitude and a bit of shyness. At that moment, she always knew if she felt down and out, Fai would always be there with help her stand on her feet.
And also to make things sweet for her too, whether it were feelings or just treats, he would always be by her side, she thought just then.
