1(A/N: I'm back!! Well... Back to writing here, that is. Stupid schedule... Well, this story has parts of a poem in it that I wrote... The poem is called 'Beginning' as is this story. This is SUPPOSED to be short, because it mainly is focused on the poem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.)

This is the beginning.

The beginning of it all.

Leonardo hugged his father. A smile was spread wide upon his young, ten year old face.

Before the pain... Behind the pain.

He exited the room, and headed for a small pile of blankets that he called his bed. He lay down and cuddle against the old, rough blankets. His younger brothers were in their own sleeping areas, fast asleep. He heard Raphael snoring like a lumber jack and let out a tiny giggle.

The happiness... The warmth...

His heavy eye lids finally gave in and drifted shut. He begins to dream. Somehow, it turns into a nightmare. He squeezes his eyes shut tighter, and whimpers.

He awakens the next morning to his Father waking him. Splinter had a serious face. He wanted to talk to him. The talk ended up being about him and his brothers' future. His father wanted them to train in martial arts to become ninjas. Splinter wanted Leonardo to be the leader of his brothers and to be responsible and loyal.

The story unfolds. Anger, sadness, and revenge thickens.

Leonardo changed. His brothers no longer wanted to hang out with him anymore. He was always training with Splinter. He never joked anymore. He was like a living statue.

The flat line continues.

Leonardo didn't want to change, but his father wanted him to. All Leonardo had ever wanted to do is follow his master's orders.

A blue bandanna was given to Leonardo to represent his "real" personality. His father said that it says that he is level headed and honorable. To Leonardo, it showed his deep depression. His repressed thoughts and feelings.

But beginnings do not matter.

Splinter once gave Leonardo a talk about death. After that, Leonardo feared it. He always wondered how he would die. His Sensei told him the absolute truth and told him that if Leonardo lives the life of the ninja, there was always a possibility to die young. How would he die?

Only endings can really foresee the happening.

Leonardo was given a pair of katanas from Splinter, to protect himself and his brothers. The whole family either thought that Leonardo was the golden child of the family, that he was just a show off, or even that he was a train-a-holic. But none of them knew that when he went to bed every night, he'd fall asleep with silent tears.

But beginnings start the endings.

Leonardo would fight with his brothers, and sometimes even his own blood was spilled. Not any of his brothers though. He could never hit them back.

Yes...

Leonardo finally came up with a conclusion of how his life truly was. It was awful. But he had to protect his brothers. Even if his brothers hated him forever... He would always love them. Even if he forever had scars to prove their abuse, he would never not love them. He also came up with a conclusion on how he was to die. He would die protecting his family.

This beginning does matter.
