A/N: Short, and somehow meaningless - that's all I wanted this little piece of conversation to be. There's actually more to that, so don't be surprised when you feel like something's missing ;0)

Disclaimer: Don't own 'em, and never will. That sucks.

„Are you nuts?"

"Who? Me?"

"Sorry to disappoint you, but there's no one in this room except you and me. So tell me: What the hell were you doing?"

Jordan met his eyes briefly, but seeing the anger in his features made her drop her gaze to the floor again. Not for long, though.

"I was following a lead."

His voice echoed disbelieve.

"You're not serious, are you? This is a joke! Jordan, newsflash for you: You are in no way affiliated with the Boston Police Department. And I mean that – stay the hell out of my investigations, for God's sake!"

Woody was angry now. Yes, he had worked with Jordan on cases and let her help him, often more than he was really supposed to. Andshe had been doing her own thing more than one or two times, even gotten herself in real trouble. But his time… it was just the icing on the cake.

"You could've been shot, or worse!"

His statement, as quiet and non-threatening it was, held more truth than she was ready to admit. She tried to reason with him, but knewdeep down it was useless. He'd already made up his mind.

"Woody, you put your life on the line daily, and that almost 365 days every year. There's no guarantee you won't get injured in the name of duty."

"Damn right! And do you know why? Because I'm a cop; it's what cops do. And you are an ME!"

For some reason, her answer had rubbed him the wrong way. But it was his work, not Jordan's. If somebody should have been outthere, searching for this kid, it should have been the police. Or him, more specifically. But all he had done was trying to get an confessionout of a man who had done nothing but protecting his family… it was a complicated world, after all.

"Do you ever wish you could change something in the past?"

His suddenly pensive and rather calm mood swung caught her off-guard, and it took her some seconds to focus on his unusual question.

But when she finally did, it was nothing like he may have suspected.

"No."

"No?"

"Not anymore. It's been so long since… since I was just able to actually be – dreaming like this only makes it seem worse when you reflect it."

Rendered speechless for some moments, Woody only gaped at her. Taking his reaction as a prompting, Jordan continued.

"I do know what I'd like to change .But actually doing it? I couldn't. The past is what makes us to the persons we are today, and that's pretty special, at least to me. So if you're asking me to pick what I would like to do different, there's only one thing."

He smiled softly. Maybe she had really grown up and done some serious thinking, but he was quite sure there had always been this side in her, he just wasn't able to see it.

"Go on," he cautiously prodded then.

"I think I'd have shared my thoughts with you more often, Farm Boy."

Now she wasn't able to hide her lopsided grin anymore, either.

"Yeah? And why's that?"

"Maybe we would've been out in the cold searching Jaina together. And you wouldn't have tried to chew off my head right now, would you? There's no point in playing pretend, Detective. Just admit it: We need to share opinions more often."

"Right. So do you want to share opinions on tonight's dinner, too?"

"Wouldn't hurt. But I'd prefer being surprised, so let's go."

So? What do you think?
