A/N: It's been my goal to write an IY fic for the past several years, and now I have! Okay, there was that one sucky crossover I did back in '06, but I don't really count that.
Anyway...I've been trying to read the whole manga...I'm on Chapter 304 now, I believe. Since the manga didn't really go into the Infant in great detail, I decided to write this! Enjoy!
What had she ever done to deserve this? Well, okay, maybe trying to escape her master every other day hadn't helped Kagura's cause, but still! She herself had only been "born" a few months ago…she was too young to be a mother!
Kagura had never given babies much thought before, but having to carry around this manifestation of Naraku's heart had gotten tiresome quickly. The Infant was much heavier than one would expect for a creature of his size. She had to hold onto him constantly while they were traveling in search of new information. Every single day it was, "Go to this temple!" "I want to see this village!" What did the Infant think Kagura was…a mule?!
Even with her enhanced strength, Kagura was always exhausted by the end of the day.
"You know," Kagura mused one day as they were flying on her feather, searching for youkai, "I could drop you right now and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it."
The Infant smirked.
"Well, why don't you?" he asked.
Kagura was taken aback. She hadn't expected that as an answer!
All she could think of to say in reply was, "Well, maybe I will!"
"I'd like to see you try."
"Oh, so now you're going to try to intimidate me?" Kagura spat, "For your information, I could get rid of you right here and now! All I have to do is throw you over the side like that!"
There was an uncomfortable silence that lasted about a minute. Finally, the Infant said in a bored tone, "If it's that simple, why aren't you doing anything?"
Kagura stuck her nose in the air and muttered, "Because I don't feel like it!" And with that, she knew she had lost the argument.
After a while, the Infant became very quiet. Perhaps he was sleeping, but one never knew for sure with him
Oh well. It could be worse. At least Kagura didn't have to change any diapers. Come to think of it, she wasn't even sure what the Infant's body looked like. He was always wrapped up in that jacket.
Not that she couldn't find out if she wanted to! She just didn't feel like it…right…that was all!
