"Hey."

Amy turned her eyes from her computer screen to her sister, standing awkwardly in the doorway. "Hey," she replied.

"Um. How was school today?" Ashley asked.

"Um, it was good, actually. Some girls were supporting me today, and Ben's friends helped him out too, so…" Amy scratched the back of her head, smiling as she remembered.

"That's good." Ashley stayed where she was, and after a few seconds continued, "You know, Amy…" She fiddled with her hands, looking down at them. "You're only as confident as you make yourself. You can't just… walk into that place like a dog that peed on the rug; you have to show them that you aren't afraid."

Amy didn't say anything for a moment, and then, "Thank you. I know." Ashley nodded and turned to go. Amy said, "Hey, Ash." Her sister looked back. "I love you."

Ashley's usually melancholy expression cracked, exposing a small smile back at Amy. "I love you too," she mumbled, before heading back into her own bedroom.
