Disclaimer: I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho.
I felt a little sad when I wrote this. Plus, this idea has been nagging at me for a while. Every guy seemed to find someone but our favorite little Kitsuneā¦
The crackle was loud. The burning reds mixed with the dark sky to light the night air. Blackened tears erupted from the bloody blaze to rest gently on the few that were unlucky enough to watch it happen. Everything seemed to fall to dust at that very second. Nothing moved, no one spoke.
Suddenly, a thump was heard as someone fell in anguish, sound and movement seemingly starting again, "No! No! No..."
Tears fell rapidly. It was shameful to lose all dignity in front of so many, but it could not be stopped. Did it truly end like this? So abruptly? The slender girl sat, befuddled at the irrefutable truth in front of her.
Many tried to comfort, a gentle hand, soft words, comforting guidance. Nothing worked.
A silent shadow moved away from the scene, being extremely careful not to leave any marks of being there. The silence was maintained as the howls of pain and sadness filled the air. It was painful not to go and hug the woman, to silence her agony.
Every time it was different. Maybe a tornado or a freak lightning storm. Others, more human, like a car crash or disease. This time, it was fire. His best friend has enjoyed that.
Speaking of his best friend, he and two more shadows entered the area, quiet as they approached the first. The quartet was silent, siphoning sympathy from each other. It had been fate that set this utter cycle into place.
It seemed cruel to watch another loved one become alone with pain. But, time did heal wounds. They would know.
Sigh...
It was becoming too easy. Too repetitive. Too unfeeling. The first man that had been watching the still crying lady knew best of all the pain that being the type of person he was only brought about weariness, yet, someone always seemed to get close to him.
They all sank away, hiding their now supposedly dead companion. No matter how much time passed. They were there for him.
Something dropped from the grasp of the group, but they moved on. It was plastic, but looked extremely life-like.
It was a new morning. The woman looked at the place one final time, still numb from the new tragedy placed before her. She clumsily picked up the very thing she could still see him holding. It seemed fresh, even emitting a slight scent that was his very own.
All that remained...
A red rose.
I'll love you until the final one withers.
