Just a little drabble story that came to me when i was reading very inspiring fanfic's. Hope you Enjoy .
Pain is always worth it in the end!
Arthur lay on the cold , hard earth surrounded by his own warm blood; seeping from his body, he see's Merlin's eyes flash a dazzling golden colour, then he see's Mordred's lifeless form fly through the air and land in the lake, left to be dragged down into the afterlife, whether it be pleasant or not. The pain had numbed his body now; his senses slowed down, his body drained of power and life, he see's Merlin run toward him and fall to his knee's at his side, lips moving but not a sound coming from them.
Hot tears fall from Merlin's eyes as he watches his Prince, and destiny, die. The pain ripped his heart into a thousand pieces and he wishes it would of been him to have received Mordred's deadly blow, for the sword to of pierced him in the heart, he wished he could take away all the Princes pain, but he couldn't.
He felt useless, he was the most powerful sorcerer to ever live, yet he couldn't save his Princes life.
Merlin is nothing without Arthur, they are two sides of the same coin, to pieces to a broken heart, together they are whole, apart they are nothing, no purpose to withstand, so without Arthur Merlin may as well die.
The last thing Arthur saw was Merlin plummet a dagger into his heart, and smile his normal goofy smile.
Arthur awakened, surrounded by comfort, and warmth, he blinked his eyes open, only to shut them again as the sun blinded him, he sat up and shaded his eyes with his hands, opening his eyes once again he saw a meadow of multi-coloured flowers arranged among striking green grass, trees enclosed the meadow and a stone arch lead out onto a sandy beach, the sound of the waves calmed Arthur's every nerve, pushed away every worry and soothed his soul.
At the far end of the beach he saw a blob, as he stepped closer and closer he saw a table with two chair's, one occupied. The closer he got the more clearer the figure became, closer and closer till he stood opposite a happy looking Merlin.
"What are you doing here Merlin, why did you follow?" He asked.
"Really Arthur, no hello, it's nice to see you Merlin?" Merlin replied with his usual sarcasm.
"Merlin, i'm being serous, why did you kill yourself?" Arthur's none amused voice stated firmly.
"I would of thought it obvious, sire" Merlin said, a faint pink blush falling upon his cheeks and ears.
Arthur looked at him bewildered.
"I love you, Arthur and i have since the first day i met you" Merlin all but whispered, averting his gaze.
When he finally built up the courage to look up at Arthur he was met with the prince staring at him wide eyed.
"I'm sorry Sire, i shouldn't of said that, i will just be leaving now" Merlin said, feeling rejected.
He got up from his seat at the table and walked away with his head slumped forward.
The firm grip on his arm stopped him in his tracked and spun him on the spot before pulling him flat against a watery eyed Arthur.
"I love you too, Merlin" was all he said before he lent down and covered his Merlin's mouth with his own, kissing him passionately. Merlin smiled into the kiss. All the pain he went through in life was worth this, he finally had Arthur all to himself.
