These violent delights have violent ends

And in their triumph die, like fire and powder

Which as they kiss, consume

They don't talk to each other anymore. When they pass by, a mere glance in the other's direction, is all that happens. It was so unlike before. Before, when the two would talk all night long. When he could tell if she was lying or when she would tell all her concealed thoughts. He was always protective of her, maybe at times a little too protective. If she fell, he would be the one to catch her damaged body. If she cried, he would be there, wiping away the broken tears. If she got hurt, he would be the one to bandage the livid wound, the one to mend the was a reason why he was there for her always, maybe she knew or not, but when she didn't twist to meet him, when he called for her in a bright voice, it all made sense. When she instead ran into the arms of the boy, he knew, she loved, it made sense. She didn't need him anymore. The hugs of warmth and the words of kindness and affection didn't matter anymore. But the one thing he couldn't fathom was, why couldn't it be him? Why couldn't she be running to him, like that? Eyes full of love and light. He was there in times of sadness, the boy wasn't. He was there when she needed to be lifted out of the dark, the boy wasn't. So why? Why couldn't care for him, crave for him, like he did for her? They walk past each other in the bare street. She didn't even acknowledge him. She acted as if she was the only there, no one knew she existed except for the stones alone. But he did. And he couldn't handle it any longer.

"Why?"

The aching word left his tongue and tumbled into a heap in her ears. She didn't turn around.

"Why?"

He repeated, each letter, his heart breaking over and over again.

"Because I loved you."

Her expression of sorrow screamed in a whisper to him. A step closer,

"I loved you. I love you. But why can't you c-"

A step further,

"Because I would've died."

A/N

I couldn't decide a pairing for this. Too many popped up in my mind. Oh and thank you for those who reviewed my other two oneshots! You would not believe how happy it made me! When you review, it helps me think that my story is worth reading. Once again, thank you! And I'm working on some stories right now, so heads up for those who like One Piece, Shugo Chara, Bleach, and Durarara.

Lightning and Thunder, a perfect match aren't they? When they collide, even the licks of the flame can't hold them in its fiery clutches for long.

This is me trying to come up with a signature quote, please tell me if it sounds stupid.
