LAST SUMMER
…
Dear Zachary Goode,
Letter writing. Wow, stone-age much? No, I haven't exactly gotten into the whole concept of writing a letter and then having to wait an eternity to receive one back when it would take a mere seconds to have a phone conversation. But you see, I know you are more of a letter writer and do not own a cell phone (you should get with the century) so I decided to write this. I also found it to be more appropriate since I have the tendency to slip up and never get coherent words out of my mouth when I'm trying to be serious.
The point of the matter is I am trying to find a way to apologize to you without sounding idiotic (you're probably thinking 'too late'). I could go on and on about how and why I'm sorry but that would take up a novel when I only have this one sheet of paper (yeah, let's just say this isn't the first attempt at writing an apology letter. Let's just hope this one is successful). So long story short, I'm sorry. Truly, deeply sorry. I am the biggest wimp in the world which you already well know and I don't have the best experience with guys apparently. You kissed me and I ran away like the scaredy cat I'm known to be and we haven't talked since. You're probably at your comfy California condo while I'm sitting here on a miserable rainy day in Roseville, Virginia trying to write this sentiment letter when I could have said this to you in person before you left.
Don't think for a second that this summer with you didn't mean anything to me because it meant everything. As corny as that sounds, it's completely and 100 percent true and it was probably one of the best summers of my life. You, Zach, are quite the house guest and certainly made this lame town quite the excitement.
The last thing you said to me was "life is about taking risks" which I found fairly cute considering as soon as you said it you went in for the kill. Went in for the kill, how lame am I? Well anyway, there was a point to that. Right now as I'm writing this letter and pouring my heart out and all that, Macey is lounging with Preston by her side and I'm still in awe. That relationship right there was one big risk. So sadly for me, I figured out the entire meaning to that quote all too late. Which yeah, if I could re due things, I would take that risk with you. If you would have wanted to with me. (You do want to right? Because if not then you really shouldn't go around kissing girls like that. It can send some VERY mixed messages.)
Anyway, take care Zach and have fun with all those sunny rays in California. I didn't really expect much out of writing this besides letting you know that I didn't run away from repulsion. Also, this was just another reason why you should start using that new invention called the phone sometime. If you hadn't been into this whole letter writing thing then you wouldn't have had to deal with all this nonsense.
Sincerely? (too formal?) From? (Too awkward?) Your friend (also too awkward?) Love? (too much?)
Er, hear from you soon? (unless you'd prefer to never talk to me ever again. That's fine too)

…
a/n: so yay new story! Bad thing is I still have another one to update (oops?). The rest of this is going to be of that particular summer and Zach and Cammie's relationship growing and all that. This was just the prologue/flash forward/foreshadow. Yeah.
