(A/N) I appreciate Ratchet & Clank that much can be said as I posted my story based on the previous saga of games however instead of retelling the story of the most recent reboot I decided to tell my own and deviate from the formula a little so without further ado ladies and gentlemen I hope you enjoy.
Chapter 1: Shooting Stars
(Planet Drexen home of the Markazian's, 10 years ago)
A bulky Markazian chucked a tree out of the way as he looked ahead to the forest mountain wiping his head panting turning around he thought he lost his companion but the a small Lombax ran out of the bushes giggling as the Markazian picked him up laughing back at him.
"That is where we used to come from Ratchet till we moved up to the surface and that mountain over there was the same place I found you that night did you know that?" He said softly
Ratchet looked over to the mountainside with a look of awe and determination on his face as he turned back looking at his guardian bringing a workplace over to the Cliffside.
"Well time to get to work little buddy, business brews when you have a view such as that...oh and I got a little present for ya." The Markazian said with enthusiasm.
He pulled out a silver wrench with was perfect for Ratchet and handed the tool to the young Lombax.
"I found that when I found you but now its yours...you take care of it mister you hear?" He asked the young Lombax.
Ratchet hugged him and the Markazian gladly accepted it back.
"Thank you Uncle Wren!" Ratchet finally said.
They both soon set to work building their repair shop for the future customers despite their home world being the highest place for peoples supplies they lacked any repairing stations for reasons that are beyond Wren's thought.
(Present day)
A visibly older Ratchet was fixing up a hover vessel with his trusty Omniwrench and before he wrapped up everything he saw a female Markazian peeking over causing him to jump out of his skin hitting his head on the hood.
"Ow!" He yelled in pain
She recoiled having felt his pain and laughed nervously.
"Sorry about heh I was coming to see if the Hover-bike is ready." She said.
"Its just about done oh and Sylvia please don't do that again." He said still holding his head.
"Heh well hopefully this works I got to be at the centre soon my father will chew my ear out if I'm late." She commented.
Ratchet and Sylvia got onto the Hover-bike and put on their biker googles and he began the ignition while Sylvia held onto his waist. He took off quickly but something went wrong the fusion coil in the exhaust port collapsed and they began flying out of control and they both screamed as they flew through the sky catching the attention of Wren.
"Oh not again!" Wren groaned.
"Seriously Wren this is the 10th time this week its almost like he's trying to get into trouble." A trader commented.
Wren grunted at him causing the trader to flinch and he watched as Ratchet landed in front of the marketplace with both Ratchet and Sylvia both looking dazed but then they realised who was in front of them and they were more or less scared.
"Heyyyyy Wren how's things?" Ratchet asked awkwardly.
Wren grabbed Ratchet off the unstable Hover-bike and glared at Sylvia which made her back down.
"Ratchet go back to the garage I need to make another report for the 10th time." He growled.
Ratchet nodded and walked away while Sylvia watched him walk away till Wren slightly pushed her towards the massive centre.
(On a space station orbiting Drexen)
A woman walked through a pathway with numerous warbots standing guard as she sat down on her office chair looking down on Drexen as she looked focused on the screen before typing down on a massive computer leading to several initiations for missile launches.
"A bit excessive ma'am shouldn't we find what we are looking for without blowing the planet up?" Her associate butted in.
"Hmmm fine, are you sure the last Lombax in the universe is here?" She asked.
"Now ma'am that's funny considering..." The associate said vaguely.
"I'm merely describing the news from your master Lawrence." She replied
She stood up removing her helmet and began walking with Lawrence out of the room.
"Ah yes well 'Furry rat causes property damage' was easy to follow to this planet ma'am." He replied in his typical sarcastic tone.
"Enough of this babble lets check up on the warbots." She finished.
"Of course ma'am." Lawrence finished
The two walked towards a huge factory where numerous warbots were being made until a large alarm was heard confusing the two where the machine building the warbots began malfunctioning then a small robot fell out of the machine making the two confused picking it up, it begin waking up seeing the woman and instinctively hit her nose which made her furious.
"Get the defect now!" She yelled.
The robot ran toward a pipe dodging numerous blast shots and slid down the pipe towards a fighter ship and quickly typed on the ships command and launched while being pursued by two other vessels with one of his wings being shot as he began crashing down onto Drexen.
(Planet Drexen, late at night)
Ratchet sat on the Cliffside feeling guilty for getting Sylvia in trouble once again, her father wasn't exactly the best kind of person to be around he was all business to describe his personality is like trying to talk to a plank of wood. Ratchet sat up where he saw a fireball fall from the sky which crashed and instead of getting help he recklessly ran into the garage and picked up his hover-boots he upgraded since he was a child and charged down the mountainside reaching the burning wreckage finding the deactivated robot and picked him up.
"Hm interesting." He said to himself.
"Ship will self destruct in 5 seconds!" A voice from the ship.
Ratchet snapped out of his thinking and zoomed out of the area while a huge explosion happened behind hi and proceeded to dodge the numerous pieces of wreckage several minutes later he clambered up the mountain seeing Sylvia and Wren standing there looking like they were arguing.
"Ever since you met Ratchet you've done nothing but get him into trouble!" Wren growled.
"Well I'm sorry I never had a friend and Ratchet being there in my life!" She yelled back.
"Yet here you are again what trouble you trying to cause now!" He yelled.
Ratchet got between the two of them.
"Both of you stop it I found something that crashed a few minutes ago I need to wake it up." He said quickly.
He rushed into the garage and scanned the biometrics of the robot and after using a repair tool the small robot sprung to life looking around seeing the trio but specifically at Ratchet.
"You are a Lombax?" He asked.
"Oh he knows what I am that's progress, are you alright?" Ratchet asked.
"My system appear nominal though I bring dire news this planet is in some form of danger I need to speak to the leader of this planet." The robot explained.
Sylvia rolled her eyes and she folded her arms.
"You'll be looking for my father then hurry up lets get moving." She said running towards the city with Ratchet, Wren and the robot following."
(Muldoon City, Drexen's capital)
Ratchet carrying the robot began to make conversation with him before they reached the centre.
"So whats your name little guy?" He asked.
"My designated name is XJ0461 but I'm sure that would be a mouthful." He snickered.
"Yeah huh...how about...Clank?" Ratchet suggested.
"I...like that nice to meet you Lombax." He introduced himself.
"The names Ratchet." Ratchet finished.
They both shook hands as they began to walk into the huge building seeing Sylvia's father Murdoch walk up to the four stopping them in their place.
"Let me guess Wren my daughter is causing more trouble again?" He said in a stoic voice.
"Surprisingly not this time, this robot here apparently has news that this planet might be attacked." Wren explained.
Clank jumped out of Ratchets back and walked up to Murdoch and shown the Markazian the hologram showing a space station orbiting Drexen with heavy artillery, suffice to say if Murdoch was a plank of wood before this shattered that phase and made him scared.
"Captain set up a perimeter and guard the city I'll try and get Captain Qwark on call!" Murdoch said quickly.
"Captain Qwark?!" The trio said in unison leaving Clank confused.
Muldoon was completely covered in a huge shield startling the civilians in the city until the city raid warning went off warning of a possible attack leaving those in the space station confused but leaving the woman completely furious.
"Its that defect he lived through that crash and sent a warning to them." She growled.
"We may be able to penetrate the force field but it may take a while due to the technology on the planet." Lawrence suggested.
"No...try and see if you can get a hologram down there, time I made my presence known. She said preparing herself
"Of course ma'am." Lawrence finished.
Back in town the holo-monument began glitching out till it was completely replaced by the woman. The trio including Clank ran out walking up to the hologram as she stood there.
"Well...this sure is a surprise I heard stories of the last Lombax in the universe but I never thought I'd see him." She made her presence known to the group.
Ratchet walked closer to the hologram making Sylvia instinctively grab his arm but he nodded and she let go immediately.
"Don't worry Markazian girl I don't bite." She taunted Sylvia.
"Leave her out of this, what do you want with me?" He asked.
"Well whats the name that you were given?" She asked
"Ratchet my name is Ratchet." He introduced himself.
The woman laughed for a little bit looking back down on the Lombax.
"Not what father would've called you but it'll do." She commented.
This confused everyone in the city with the woman looking around laughing at the confusion.
"Oh my apologies I never introduced myself. She said rather patronisingly.
She pressed a few button on her wrist and her mask depressurized, she then removed the helmet shaking her head and exposing her face to the planet and it was clear as day Ratchet was shocked, particular ears and fur and the facial structure it was clear she was something believed to be endangered in the universe.
"Another Lombax?"
Hope this chapter can kick off my own version of the reboot of Ratchet & Clank well and I hope you lot can appreciate what I'm trying to do I love this series and I enjoyed writing this a lot but for now I hope you enjoyed this and more will come soon.
