Title: (you choose)
Summary: (You choose)
Plot: The worst way to miss someone is to have them sitting right next to you and know you can never have them... whichever pairing you like, this time it has to be angst simply because the quote is angst. O_o Oneshot.
Rating: T or M, angst, maybe...tragedy?
Kura's A/N : be prepared to flame away. XD (basically, I gave Niou some credit and let him be the one leaving Yagyuu behind this time. XD but I do love Niou and all~) Unbeta-ed and everything? XD
and happy NEWS year everyone, as Lin-chan-senpai would put it! (and I hope that Rage-chan-senpai is okay with this. XD)
Most of the time, the RikkaiDai regulars would spend their holidays with their families, but this time, it was different.
For all of the regulars, sans Kirihara, had already graduated from junior high, so this was the final gathering that they would have together as the "RikkaiDai tennis regulars", consisting of the strongest players in the entire of RikkaiDai's history.
There was their captain, Yukimura Seiichi, the Child of God, and the first demon.
There was their vice-captain, Sanada Genichirou, known as the Emperor, and is the second of the three demons.
There was their 'Data Master', Yanagi Renji, the last of the demons.
There was their 'Gentleman', Yagyuu Hiroshi, whose polite demeanour endeared everyone to him.
There was their 'Trickster', Niou Masaharu, who was known as the scariest person on the courts.
There was their volley specialist, Marui Bunta, who was extra talented in hitting cord balls.
There was their defense master, Jackal Kuwahara, also known as the 'Iron Wall of Defense'.
Lastly, but not least, was their youngest regular, Kirihara Akaya, who earned his title as the 'junior ace'.
But, after that day, this would all be in the past.
For it would be a new year.
The worst way to miss someone is to have them sitting right next to you and know you can never have them.
So Yagyuu thought as he looked at Niou chattering away to him about Shishido.
Shishido this, Shishido that.
Yagyuu wanted to scream silently. What was so good about that dash specialist?
Why wouldn't Niou look at him as more than a 'best friend'?
This was the last time that he, Yagyuu, was going to try and get Niou to notice him as more than a friend.
For after that gathering, they would be heading off to different schools.
"Wake up Yagyuu, the fireworks!"
Yagyuu was rudely shaken awake by a rather excited Akaya, who was practically bouncing around in anticipation.
As he adjusted his glasses, he saw the fleeting display of lights flashing through the night sky.
All around him, cheers of "Happy New Year!" could be heard.
Yagyuu smiled to himself slightly. The new year has started, and so, a new Yagyuu would emerge.
The worst way to miss someone is to have them sitting right next to you and know you can never have them.
No longer would he think that.
Now, he could look back at his memories as a doubles partner of Niou Masaharu, and smile.
For Yagyuu Hiroshi was moving on.
