Disclaimer and all that shizz.
Just a quick note to anyone who was following Rebuilding Trust, right now I've got good ideas for the next story in the series, but I don't know how to link it to what I have now and I don't want to do a half-assed job on it.
"Hey Ziva, come check this out!"It was 0900 and Tony was rummaging around in McGee's desk "Looks like little McAuthor finally got over his writer's block." Tony hefted a fairly large stack of papers onto the desk.
Ziva ignored him. Gibbs and McGee were definitely out for the day, so Tony began reading aloud. "This day was like any other for LJ Tibbs, until he was called and informed that his boss, Holly Leopard, director of the SINC (Service for the Investigation of Naval Crimes) had been involved in a shooting..."
By 1000 Ziva had given up all pretence of working, and was sitting next to DiNozzo, completely wrapped up in the story.
By 1100, Tony had started reading lower, in a much more serious tone, as both Tommy and Lisa had just been sent to LA with Holly for protection.
By 1130, Tony was reading about the 'terrible' deception committed against these 'fictional' characters by both Director Lance and Tibbs. "...their scheme had been perfectly planned, was perfectly executed, would have worked like a charm, except for one thing. They had been played. Tibbs knew, of course he would. But the rest of the team didn't. As Tommy and Lisa were in the elevator, Lisa quietly said, 'I am tired of pretending.'
They both knew what she meant, any other day, he would have pretended he didn't, but not today. Instead of saying anything, he just leaned across the gap and kissed her."
Tony had stopped reading there. He put the manuscript back into the drawer and looked across to Ziva, who had a strange look in her eyes. He was about to say something when the elevator dinged. Tony and Ziva pretended to look busy as Gibbs walked in, closely followed by McGee.
"Don't even bother; I know that you weren't working. One of you take this sample down to Abby." He instructed, holding an evidence bag out. Simultaneously, both Tony and Ziva stood up. Ziva grabbed the bag and walked across to the elevator, Tony hot on her heels. The doors closed and Tony casually reached across and flicked the emergency stop switch.
Tony looked across at Ziva, "That situation in 'Rock Hollow', completely unrealistic."
"Yes, preposterous."
Tony and Ziva looked across at each other, their eyes met, and they practically attacked each other's faces.
McGee chuckled as he began scribbling on his notepad, silently wondering at what point in their careers would Tony or Ziva realise that there was a camera in the elevator.
