--Kissing Grissom--
We were standing in Grissom's office after stepping in to retrieve some paperwork he had asked us to get for him when it all started.
"I was just reminding you, Cath. You know how Grissom gets." Especially with you, I mentally added, although I didn't say it out loud.
"Let's get one thing straight, Warrick. I kiss who I want when I want."
"I know. That's entirely your decision. I was just saying..."
"Gil is not my boss...Okay, well he is at work, but he isn't in charge of my life. I could kiss the next guy I see if I wanted to. And you know what? I think I will just to prove it."
"Catherine..."
But she was beyond hearing reason. Everyone has something they always do, even though it is not very smart. Catherine is stubborn and never stops when she should.
Spinning on her heel, she walked toward the door, only to have it swing open toward her.
Grissom stepped in, and before he knew what had hit him, Catherine launched herself at him like a rocket.
I stood there incomfortably for a couple seconds, knowing that she was only doing this because she was one hell of a stubborn woman, and had refused my efforts at explaining my remark.
But when a few more passed, I got the feeling that even though this kiss was originally from the dare Catherine had made for herself, it had morphed into something different.
I mean, I had always known they had the hots for eachother; I mean it was totally obvious. The only ones that seemed not to notice were themselves. But damn! Those two were going at it like two overly hormonal teenagers.
Luckily, they had moved away from the door, so I could escape without interrupting, as they seemed to be oblivious to the fact that they had an audience. That or they just didn't care, figuring whoever it was would get the point and go away. Either way, I was out of there.
Greg was heading for the door when I came out, shutting the door behind me.
"I wouldn't go in there just now." I warned.
"Why?" Leave it to Greg to look curious, rather than put off, the effect I was hoping for.
"Let's just say that the two smartest people in the building finally got off their butts and solved a problem that has needed solving for a long time."
His eyes grew as big as saucers.
"Are you serious?"
"You know Warrick, he's never not serious. Anyway, serious about what?" Nick's voice interrupted our conversation.
He and Sara walked up to join us, now forming a miniature circle outside of Grissom's office door.
"Grissom and Catherine finally hooked up."
"Oh, my God, they did!"
"Really!"
"Yes, really! Geez, why doesn't anyone believe me?"
"Oh, we do." Sara assured me.
"Yeah," Nick added, "I mean, it's like they've been in love with each other for like forever. It's just that it most of the time it seemed like they were never going to...Oh, my god." He had moved to the window to glance in while he was speaking, and was now staring open-mouthed at the scene going on inside.
"Umm, you guys? I think we should shut the blinds."
"Sara," Greg gave her his best 'that was a stupid remark' face. "The blinds close from the inside."
"Oh, right."
I had simply been standing there for the entire bizarre conversation.
"Come on, you guys. We should at least give them as much privacy as possible."
"Which isn't much, since their shades are open." Greg argued.
"Exactly. Now come on."
Just as we were about to leave, amid Greg's whining, Grissom and Catherine seemed to realize they had an audience. They both smiled sheepishly and gave us a small wave.
And then proceeded to shut the blinds.
