There she was. Her long lavender and grey ringed tail was swaying in the wind as she sat on the swing, gently rocking herself back and forth. Her name was Ringo. She was watching the poor fox get bullied for a reason she could not tell, wishing to avoid a confrontation. She was only an eight year old raccoon. Finally, she could no longer bear it.
"Hey! Leave him alone! What has he ever done to you?!" she screamed at the large, intimidating bear and wolf partnership.
They snickered. They wouldn't let a little twerp like her stand in their way. They slowly edged towards her, raising up fists with proud smirks on their faces. They blocked her way of escaping, and soon had her backed up to a wall, cringing in fear.
No! I knew I shouldn't have gotten in the way! They'll kill me!
Little Ringo's eyes started tearing up. She took a quick glance at the red-faced, miserable fox, and closed her eyes to wait for the punch that would come.
It didn't come.
The orange fox ran over to her and the bullies with amazing agility, and pushed them aside, as quick as a wink, and grabbed Ringo's hand.
"Run. Now."
He couldn't say anything else. They were seconds close to becoming pulp. Ringo got the message and glided with speed on her feet, following Tail's into a nearby forest, trying to escape the two playground hooligans.
The bear growled," Let's get the two of 'em, Bosco."
The wolf, Bosco, nodded his head in agreement.
Ringo and Tails were doing great in escaping…until…
Tails didn't have a clue where to go. But Ringo soon had a plan.
"Darn! We're gonna be bear chow!", Tails exclaimed.
Ringo gave a reassuring smile. Using her raccoon-like instincts, her climbed up the nearest oak tree and looked around for throwable objects.
Bird's nest? Too dangerous. Acorn? Too small. Beehive? Perfect.
She handled the hive carefully, and with a rush of adrenaline, her poor throwing skills became perfect, as if she had years of practice, and she tossed the hive to the two hoodlums.
"Bees!"
"Come on, Julius! I think they're…angry!"
And Julius and Bosco hightailed it, leaving clouds of dust behind them.
"Thanks. For everything", Tails huffed. "I'm Tails. Thanks for sticking up for me."
"Don't mention it. I'm Ringo!" Ringo laughed cheerfully. The two shook hands, bonding the start of a happy friendship.
