Promises for Breaking
Prologue
---
She sat silhouetted against the sky, a dark, unknown figure on that late summer night. A breeze nipped the air that chilled her skin, but by the actions he had taken, there was nothing that could chill her deeper than the skin ever again. Nothing. Had it been anyone else it had happened to, maybe he or she would have been able to start life over. No, not maybe. Definitely. But she just couldn't do it. He knew she had no life to go back to. There was nothing out there for her. Nothing besides him, he knew it, and she knew he knew it, but he had done it anyway.
People are never considerate.
She wanted so badly to slip off the edge of the roof she sat on. It would end everything. It would make everything better. She was convinced of it, no matter how much she had heard other people say it was the coward's way out. But wasn't murder the madman's way out?
She had to pick one. She knew she did. She wouldn't be able to live anymore – not with nowhere to go but where she was and him waltzing around like the ass he was. It seemed so much like he had to rub it in. He never even apologized.
He never apologized for breaking our promise.
He said he had made his choice, but he promised it wasn't her. He promised me. He gave me hope and that's all I ever needed. But he took that away from me. He took everything away from me.
"Tenchi."
That was the only word the figure atop the roof could manage to muster through the sobs that now distorted her voice. Despite the array of thoughts in her head at the moment, she was unable to find a way to express the horror she felt within her. All she could do was cry. Maybe the reason being that the thoughts where of those haunted with the realization that just below her the two of them where probably making love.
And they were doing it with only one of them knowing the truth behind what happened.
It was a horrible truth, but alas, it was the one real truth.

After word
Okay, there it is. Keep in mind that this is strictly a prologue and the story could go in just about any direction from here, so don't judge it based solely upon this piece of writing! I only know three things about this story – 1. It'll be a T/R… in a way 2. People are going to die and 3. I'm going to update it biweekly. No, that does not mean the weeks are bisexual, for those of you less educated, it means I shall update every two weeks. And only every two weeks… no sooner; no later. Not unless I find a good reason to, that is.
Feedback on this would be highly appreciated, though, and I'll even give you a cookie! Does anyone dislike the idea of long chapters (MUCH longer than this) every two weeks and wish that I update whenever with chapters that hardly require scrolling? I hope not – that results in me losing interest in a story. Anyways, what I wanted feedback on was what direction you (whoever you may be) think I should carry this story in. The "customer" is always right, you know! ^o^
I guess I should go now or the after word will be longer than the story itself thus far e.e;;
Transmission out,
Happy Reading,
