Hey. This is my first x-men fanfic that I've posted on here. I've written many but I'm a little hesitant because I have a habit of starting stories and go nowhere and then I never finish them but because this is just a one-shot I'm gonna take my chances. It's pretty short but I wanted to explore what happened after Alcatraz when Bobby brought John back to the mansion. And yes that did happen. It was in the script and in the novel but they didn't put it in the movie for some reason. It is a Ryro fic and I hope you like it.
Rogue lay in her bed, but still awake, not moving, just looking at the ceiling. She hadn't moved from this spot all night.
She couldn't sleep anymore because every time she closed her eyes she saw the same scene play out in head.
Bobby rushing into the mansion, with John in his arms, running down to the basement to take him to the infirmary.
The walls of the hallway rushing past her as she follows him.
John lying helpless on the operating table as Logan and Storm are shouting out orders to Kitty, Bobby, Piotr and herself.
The blue man, Beast, trying to wake John up but to no avail.
People stop rushing around, the orders stop being shouted, questions are asked.
"What happened?" Logan asks.
"He fought me." Bobby replies.
Rogue jumps off the wall and attacks Bobby "SO YOU KILLED HIM!"
Piotr pulls Rogue off of Bobby and takes her across the room where she collapses and cries.
"He didn't kill him." Kitty says as she approaches Rogue but she just gets off the floor and runs toward Logan.
They all turn to Beast who is checking John one more time. He hangs his head. They all know but none of them can say it. John died.
The pain is becoming so strong now that Rogue sometimes sees the event play out while her eyes are open. She doesn't know why it hurts so badly either. She had always believed that John was her friend, nothing more.
Now that he's gone she just wishes to be with him. She wished that she had been with him more when he was alive. She almost wishes that she had joined Magneto with him, just so she could be with him longer. Now he's gone and she realizes how much she cared for him.
Now Rogue realizes that she loved John.
