Big Brother

I was twelve, you were fifteen

I'd somehow felt somewhere stuck in between

but you gave me a hand, and we began

Pape after pape, and year after year, I saw from you

things only a brother would do.

"Ain't you glad nobody's waitin' up for you?"

Well, ain't you glad that I'd be here for you through thick and thin,

And wouldn't it be funny if you knew I was waitin' up?

I wonder if you know how much you've taught me.

Together in high times and hard times,

stickin' together like good newsies should

here in Manhattan where your dreams come true,

even though you may not know it yet.

Big brother, do you know how I see you?

Do you know that would matter to me if you left for the west

and left me high and dry?

Big Brother, don't you know it's protection I seek,

that no one could possibly keep me safe like you do?
