Let it rain
She sat on a bench in a park, she didn't know where or why. It seemed as if she'd always sat there, staring at the sky. Staring at the people walking by, the mothers with children, the lovers side by side. She seemed so calm, so at peace. She closed her eyes and sighed, as she opened them she saw two men walking close together, they were engrossed in their conversation and didn't notice her stare. She couldn't believe it; there he was, the one she thought she'd never see again. Tears formed in her eyes as she remembered the first and only time she'd seen him.
"One more time! Come on, push!"
She did her best, but it hurt so much. She wanted the pain to stop. "I can't!" She yelled.
"Yes you can. Now, push!"
She closed her eyes and did as she was told. "AAAA!" With a last cry the pain subsided and she opened her eyes, "What is it?"
"A boy." Came a cold voice. "You must rest, we will discuss your future when you've regained your strength."
"Can I see him?" She asked holding out her arms.
The two women exchanged glances, the older shrugged and said; "She will hurt, not us."
Carefully the younger woman handed the baby to her. "You have five minutes."
She didn't answer; she looked at her son, memorizing him. "Perfect." She whispered. "My son, live and love, my son." She held the baby close and whispered something in his ear. "That is your name, the name only your mother knows." She said as she leaned back.
"Your time is up."
"I know." She held out her newborn son, leaned back and sighed.
"Excuse me. Are you all right?" She heard a young voice say.
She opened her eyes and smiled, "Yes, I am. It is such a lovely day don't you think so Mr....?"
"Ryan, Richie Ryan. It is." Richie paused for a moment. "You seem familiar, have we met before?"
Smiling she stood up, "Yes we have. We've met a long time ago." She pretended to check her watch, "I am late, and I have to go now. Goodbye Mr. Ryan. Live and love Chayim." She turned and walked away, tears forming in her eyes.
"Who was that?" Duncan asked a confused Richie.
"I don't know. Duncan?" Richie stared after the woman.
"Yes?"
"What does 'Chayim' mean?"
"I don't know, why?"
Richie hesitated. "Never mind." He grinned, "Come on, I feel like ice-cream and you're buying."
She looked back and saw her son laughing. "Chayim." She straightened her back and walked out of the park.
Let It Rain by Amanda Marshall
I have given, I have given
And got none
Still I'm driven by something I can't explain
It's not a cross, it is a choice
I cannot help but hear his voice
I only wish that I could listen without shame
[Chorus]
Let it rain
Let it rain on me
Let it rain, oh let it rain
Let it rain on me
I have been a witness to the perfect crime
I wipe the grin off of my face to hide the blame
it isn't worth the tears you cry to have a perfect
alibi
Now I'm beaten at the hands of my own game
Chorus
It isn't easy to be kind
With all these demons in my mind
I only hope one day I'll be free
I do my best not to complain
My face is dirty from the strain
I only hope one day I'll come clean
Chorus
Come take my hand
We can walk to the light
And without fear
We can see through the darkest night
Chorus Repeat
