Introduction
You've stumbled upon a rather abysmal work-in-progress, one that I aim to actually work on and, if we're lucky, finish. But let's not get our hopes up, because I, Evan, have never, as of yet, finished a single work-in-progress.
Sad, no?
Yeah, it is.
And, like I've promised myself dozens of times before, I now make a dinky promise to finish this extremely fascinating and potentially intuitive fanfic.
Whoopee.
Hem hem. But now, I'm sure you're wondering what this story is actually about. And I'll tell you, 'cause I need people to read and comment and encourage me.
It's the story of Dorcas Meadowes.
"Who the hell is Dorcas Meadowes?"
As most HPers should know, Dorcas made a very tiny appearance in the 5th book. But for those chosen few who don't remember, I quote:
"That's Dorcas Meadowes, Voldemort killed her personally…" - Moody, talking about the old OotP photograph with Harry, Chapter 9, Book 5
Now. Like I said before, this is a very tiny appearance; but it is a very, very distinguishable one. Why? Think about it – Voldemort killed her personally. Only two other Order members (ever) were killed by You-Know-Who himself, and those two people were Lily and James Potter. Why were they killed? Because their son was supposed to destroy him, and Voldemort didn't like that. These two had, according to Rowling, survived three previous encounters with Voldemort and survived. These encounters were almost certainly because of the prophecy. This made them important enough for Voldemort to seek out personally.
Oh, yes, but what about the Longbottoms? They, too, survived three encounters. These encounters, too, were almost certainly because of the prophecy. But their actual death was not carried out by the Dark Lord. In the end, they did not prove important enough to Voldemort because he had decided that Neville was not "the chosen one".
So, now the question arises: What could Dorcas Meadowes have possibly done to ever deserve such an honor of being murdered by the Dark Lord, himself?
Ask Rowling. I'm sure she'll tell you.
Hah.
I have attempted to spin my own version of what might have happened to this lost soul. I have pondered and plotted and still am. I am in the process of mapping this very intriguing idea out, to make it as real as possible. I'm sure it won't be quite what Rowling had in mind (if she had anything in mind at all), but I'm willing to take the chance for a bit of entertainment this summer.
So, if you will join me on this very, very long journey towards truth and justice in the name of "Dorcas Meadowes", I will write my heart away to you. Just don't expect me to finish any time soon. ;)
Much love,
Evan
PS. This is my disclaimer. I own nothing of anything in this story that has been mentioned in the Harry Potter books or spoken about by Rowling, herself. I wish I ownedthe HPverse but alas – I'm just manipulating it. And that manipulation, dears, is mine.
