Snow falls outside of the window. Condensation caresses the glass. The sun can be seen through the cloud coverage. The air is cold but joy encases the town in warmth.

In the park is one pair of footsteps. They wind along the paths aimlessly. In areas there are great indentions in the snow in place of footsteps. The person paused to look at their surroundings.

Tourists believe that it is another tourist. They relish in pitying the person and continue with their journeys; always in the company of others. They don't think that this person is also on a journey. Most don't even understand that they too are on a journey – life.

A fresh wave of wind envelopes the town. The foot prints are covered by a thin layer of snow. They sparkle and glisten with a melancholy beauty. The view of lonesome footsteps each veiled by glistening icy tears is too easily overlooked.

Only one person sees them for what they are.

His larger footsteps follow the trail from afar. Flashes of light erupt every few moments. He hones in on each intricate detail. Only he can make this scene beautiful.

Then his footsteps appear no more. The flashes cease. The glow of the setting sun holds the cradles the land. Atop a hill the shadow of a swing towers over the path. The silhouette of a person is accentuated on the seat.

Despite being clung to by shadows he can see her smile break through the darkness. However, the shadows hide her eyes that are lined with tears. They trickle down her pale face like nature's most fragile of rivers.

His footsteps are revived. He strides up the hill. His core is twisted with concern for her. This is the result of every year. Her tears are annual. He can predict them but cannot change fate.

She sees him. She smiles for him. She cries for him.
