A/N: This is my favorite Janto story that I have written. I got the idea when I was listening to the song Faithfully by Journey. I apologize for any OOCness, I'm still working at that. Another apology for any grammar mistakes. I try my best to minimize the mistakes, but I'm still young and I'm still learning. Hopefully you will enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it :)
He lies in my arms, gasping for one final breath. It is the end for him, but it's only one end for me. My subordinate, my coffee boy, my lover, he is leaving me. In front of that horrid glass case, the monster inside is responsible. I vow to kill it, but first I must attend to Ianto.
"Jack," he begins shakily, "I love you."
"Ianto, don't speak, save your breath," I didn't know what else to say. I didn't want my Ianto to go out like this.
"What good is a breath in here? It's poison Jack."
"I know Ianto, I know."
The silence seemed crushing, our last moments together. Neither of us dared to break the silence. We simply gazed at each other, what else could be done? The end of the world was upon us, and there was nothing to do. We could only share our last moments together.
Well, his last moments, I would live again to bear all of this pain.
"Jack?" Ianto dared to break the silence. I was lost in my thoughts, I almost didn't hear him. But, that voice, that beautiful voice, shook me from my thoughts.
"What is it, Yan?" I listened intently for what could be his last words.
"Will you move on once I'm gone? Will you find someone else?"
"With all the species that are spread across the universe, I'm sure I could find another to love," Ianto appeared to be in tears after hearing me say this, "but, I wouldn't want to." At this moment a song from one of my favorite bands popped into my head. Ianto wouldn't know it, it was an American band, but it seemed fitting.
I started singing softly to my beloved,
"Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you
And being apart
Ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy of rediscovering you
Oh, Yan*, you stand by me
I'm forever yours
Faithfully."
I barely manage to choke out the final words. Ianto breathes his last poisoned breath as I finish. While his lips are still warm, I plant a final soft, loving kiss. A final kiss that he will never feel. "I will never feel his soft hand caress my body," my vision fades. "I will never feel his warmth again," I feel my lungs collapsing. "My Ianto is gone," I fall over, still grasping Ianto. I manage one final word, "Goodbye."
*I did replace girl with Yan to fit the moment
