Disclaimer: I do not own Jonny Quest or related characters.
A/N: So, I have a lot of stories on my profile centered around the Bannon family when Jessie was younger, but I don't have any with the Quest Family when Jonny was younger (as in before his mother died). I am going to fix that.
Benton frowned at the blueprint he'd drawn, something just didn't seem right about it. He couldn't figure out what it was though. The answer was there somewhere, he just had to find it. And find it he would... eventually. He sighed, rubbing his tired eyes. Perhaps he should take a break? No. No, he'd figure it out here in a few minutes. Or so he hoped.
"Daddy?" Benton jumped hearing his four-year-old son's voice. He hadn't even heard the door open.
"Yes Jonny?" He murmured, wondering how the child had even gotten into the lab.
"Can you read me a bedtime story?" Jonny asked, holding up his favorite book. Bedtime? Benton glanced at the clock. Huh, it was that late already?
Though curious as to why Jonny wasn't asking his mother, Benton smiled and nodded, "Of course, son."
Rachel smiled as she peeked into Jonny's room. Benton was lying on the bed with Jonny on his chest, both were fast asleep while the book - that retold the events of the Disney movie: Treasure Planet - lay discarded on the floor where it had fallen. Her plan had worked perfectly. It was often difficult for her to tear Benton away from one of his projects, but Jonny could do it easily. And now, she didn't have to fight either of them to get them to go to bed on time (or at all in Benton's case).
She entered the room quietly, picking up the book and returning it to the shelf before returning to the bed and draping a blanket over the sleeping child and his father. Leaning down she kissed Jonny's temple and then Benton's forehead. "Goodnight." She murmured quietly.
Then she left the room, being sure to turn out the light. As she walked down the hall towards the master bedroom she wondered what she was going to do when Jonny was older and this kind of plan would no longer work. She shook her head, it was no use worrying about it now. She'd figure it out when the time came.
